Getting Started

You will be able to order the Gardening kit from your latest Cattlelog. The cost of this kit is currently set at 50 jellybeans and will arrive shortly after ordering. Also, you will notice that the Cattlelog contains statues that you may purchase once your gardening skill is higher. Cattlelog Garden Items

Once the package arrives in your mailbox, it will explain a little more about gardening and your tree locations, flower pots, and wheelbarrow. A statue base will also pop into view.

Wheelbarrow Location Statue Base

Now you need to plant some flowers and decide which gag trees you want planted.

If you look at your Shticker book, you will notice a new page for gardening with a few different sections. On these pages you can tell how many shovel and watering can points you have, a list of flowers that you have picked, and if you have any special gardening items.

Sticker Book Gardening Page

As you can see this looks a lot like the fishing page. It has basically the same layout as the fishing page with the exception of the Specials page.

I will cover the tabs briefly.

The first tab is the Basket tab (pictured above) which allows you to see the flowers in your basket and also has your stats for Shovel and Watering Can points.

The next tab is Album tab and just like in Fishing this shows you all the flowers that you have picked up to that point.

Sticker Book Garden Album Page

Next is the Trophies tab which contain your gardening trophies you receive when growing 10, 20, 30, and 40 different flowers.

Finally the last tab is the Specials which will show your statues and any other special.

Planting Flowers

It's time to add some beauty to your Toon estate!

Step up to YOUR flower box/pot and your will see this appear where the chat/speedchat button is.

Just go right ahead and click on the PLANT FLOWER button.

Planting Dialog Box

Now you can either choose to figure out the beans to plant yourself OR you could go to the Bean Combos section which lists the combos out for you. It's your choice! Once you plant something, you will get a screen similar to the following.

Planting Confirmation Box Flower Confirmation

Uber Toons will be able to beautify their estates also because they can just plant one of each flower over and over again. Since the bean combo's only go to 8, you will never get the 10th flower to get that dreaded extra Laff point as long as you only plant one flower of each level.

OK, we got those flowers planted now let's go water each one of them once. Here is a picture of two flowers one watered and the other dry as a bone.

Needs Watered and Watered

And what happens if your flowers/trees aren't watered? Well does THIS look familiar?

Ooof! No water!

Just give it a little water and it will spring back to life. If it is a tree it will take one day to spring back to life. After two days the gags will come back on it. If it is a flower, it will immediately come back to life.

Finally, if this is after day one of planting, don't forget to run around and top off your trees with a little water.

Flowers will grow at Midnight Pacific time NO MATTER WHEN planted. Woo hoo! I verified this by planting 5 minutes before midnight. NOTE: You will have to go back to playground and then back to estate to see the growth cycle!

If you need to remove a flower that you have planted then walk right up to the flower and click:

Planting Trees

Now you need to decide which type/types of trees you want to plant. You have 8 locations to plant trees for your Toon and NO you cannot pick from other Toon's trees. Little Toons will more than likely broaden their tree base and then consolidate to one gag as they grow while bigger Toons will probably go for one gag at a time.

To plant a tree, walk up to a dirt mound and click PLANT TREE on your gardening panel. You then will get to choose which gag to plant.

Remember no matter what you plant, you need the lower gag trees planted in order to have your higher gag trees active, meaning you need to plant your level 1 gag tree first before you can plant your level 2 gag tree.

If you want that extra boost on your Fog Horn, you need to have all the lower sound gags planted and healthy.

Currently, it takes about 3 days for a Level 1 gag tree to mature and you will start to receive the bonus one day before the tree produces gags.

How do you tell if your bonus is active? That's a very good question and you will notice a change in your gag selection screen. The number of a certain organic gag your holding will show up in bold, like the Aoogah below.

Bold type indicates Organic Bonus

You can look below to see the added damage for the organic Gag bonus or you can calculate it yourself. Organic gags give a 10% increase in the gag's strength. NOTE: Anything below 1 such as .3 will be rounded to one but once you are above 1 only round DOWN.

NOTE: These values are for gags that are maxed for that level. If your gag isn't maxed then the value may be a little lower. You can always look at the gag in the gag selection screen and it will list its damage with the bonus damage in ( ) beside the damage. So a maxed Fog Horn will list Damage: 50 (+5).

Uber Toons will be very interested in knowing the following and avoiding the dreaded miss in the Skelecog round in the Sellbot VP fight.

Planting lure will increase the accuracy of it hitting the cogs.

Ok, now you have your trees planted, let's get those things watered. I would advise watering the trees 8 times each as you never know when you're going to miss a day or two of being on Toontown.

Trees don't wilt they will look like trees you might see around Halloween. Just give them some water and once Midnight Pacific hits, they will return to life.

Picture of Dead Tree Another Dead Tree

Again, trees grow at Midnight Pacific Time and each level has a different amount of days until the trees sprout gags.

If you need to remove a tree that you have planted then walk right up to it and click REMOVE. If you have gags growing on your tree already, you will have to click PICK first, then REMOVE.

Shovel Skill and Statues

You earn a shovel point for picking flowers and increasing your shovel points will allow you to plant flowers using multiple jellybeans. After increasing in points for a bean combination, you will no long be able to earn points for bean combos lower. This means that if you are able to plant 3 bean combos, you can grow one, two, and three bean flowers but you only EARN points for picking the three bean combos.

    • Receive Tin shovel in Gardening Kit
  • One bean combo 0 - 40 shoveling points
  • Two bean combo 41 - 80 shoveling points
    • Receive Bronze shovel
  • Three bean combo 0 - 80 shoveling points
  • Four bean combo 81 - 160 shoveling points
    • Receive Silver shovel
  • Five bean combo 0 - 160 shoveling points
  • Six bean combo 161 - 320 shoveling points
    • Receive Gold Shovel
  • Seven bean combo 0 - 320 shoveling points
  • Eight bean combo 321 - 640 shoveling points

Remember to check your Cattlelog every so often for statues that you may be able to purchase. This usually occurs after a shovel change.

Planting Statues

Go up to a statue stand, Click PLANT ITEM on the panel at the top left part of the screen, then you will see the planting panel. There, you will find a box to the right side of the planting panel. Use the box's arrows to select the item you wish to plant, when you find it, click on it. Then plant the jellybean recipe you need to use to plant the statue. You can find out the jellybean recipes used to plant an item by looking in the Specials section in the gardening page in the Shticker book. After you put in the jellybean recipe, click PLANT and you have planted your statue!

At least that Donald won't bug you or look like he REALLY shouldn't be piloting that boat!

UPDATE: As of 25 June 2008, toons with 639/639 shovel skill can plant a statue of themselves or one of their friends!

Water Skill

Each time you water a flower or tree that hasn't been watered fully, you will receive a watering point.

  • Small Watering can 0 - 99 points Will keep plants watered 1-2 days per water
  • Medium Watering can 100 - 199 points Will keep plants watered 3-4 days per water
  • Large Watering can 200 - 699 points Will keep plants watered 5-6 days per water
  • Huge Watering can 700+ points Will keep plants watered 7-8 days per water

Number of times you can water a new plant:

  • Small Can - 5
  • Medium Can - 3
  • Large Can - 2
  • Huge Can - 2

Yes, you CAN water your other Toons' flowers/trees! Notice the change in the box... no pick/plant/remove

Laff Points

You will gain a Laff point when you grow, pick, and sell 10, 20, 30, and 40 unique flowers. I find it easier to grow the different combo's of flowers the first day of planting and then plant all the same until the next combo is active. Maybe I'm just lazy! Laff Boost Dialog Gardening-Trophy--2.JPG

The bean combinations section was made possible by many a wonderful Toon who worked very hard in figuring out the higher flowers. Give a special shout out to Andrew, Little Pearl Petalbee, Kings silver, Monkey Bites and many others.

Watering credits

Regarding "Number of times you can water a new plant: Small Can - 5 "

On Test, I just confirmed with Small Can on Flowers, that you can only get 4 points from watering a newly-planted flower.

Maybe planting a flower acts like it's current moisture is 1, and a dried-out flower that gives 5 points is moisture 0?

Also, need to verify these values for Trees.

Also, this could be different on Open.

EDIT: okay, I dunno what's going on.
I tested again with a different toon, first gardening, and it was able to get +8 watering points for each flower planted.
Buggy? Maybe they are tweaking it?

Picture Sizes?

I think that most of the larger pictures need to be made into thumbnails, for neatness and for those with slow computers. Thoughts? User:Garfieldo 21:21, 16 February 2007

Things to do

If some TT editors could take care of the following, it would be much appreciated:

More images of Trees and Statues. Better images for the Bean Combo spoilers.
