Forum Guidelines

Posting To Forums

Posting to forums enables you to communicate and collaborate with your friends and others that play or played Disney's Toontown Online, Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom, Disney Club Penguin, Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow, or The World of Cars Online. Examples of forums include anything listed in the ToonTownCentral Forums, VMK Forums, ClubPenguinFansite Forums, PixieHollow Forums, or CarsOnline Forums section of these sites. These online forums are similar to the classic definition of the word: forum -- A public place or medium for open discussions. You access forums by clicking on the forum link and by clicking on the title of the individual forum you want to view. For example, you can click on the Playground or General Discussion link to see a list of available discussions. Then, you can click on the title of discussion you wish to view.

Please post in the appropriate forum. Don't be upset if we move your post to a more appropriate forum. In the event you find your post "missing", please attempt to locate it in what might be a more appropriate forum by using the Search feature.

Each forum has a name and a brief description with them. This makes information easier for people to find if they have a similar question or are interested in the same things.

We reserve the right to move, remove, or close any post for any violations or reasons we deem necessary. (Disciplinary action will be taken on a case-by-case basis depending on the severity)

Forum Etiquette

Advertising

Whether for personal gain or for private use, web sites, message boards, user created IRC channels and chat rooms which are not endorsed by ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, or CarsOnlineForums.com are not to be posted anywhere in threads (This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.), chat rooms or in IRC as we are unable to maintain the level of their content, which may or may not be suitable for children.

This also includes sites like Myspace, Xanga.com, or any type of social sites that allow personal information or inappropriate material that does not fall under the G-rating rules of this site. Any site that is not officially approved by the ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, or CarsOnlineForums.com Staff is not allowed to be advertised on ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com or CarsOnlineForums.com.

Profiles may be checked for content periodically & if deemed inappropriate will be removed and will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Cross-Posting/Multiple Posting/Bumping

Cross-posting/Multiple Posting/Bumping is copying posts/threads several times throughout the forum or consecutive (one right after another) replies to a thread or posting to bump a thread to the top for no logicial or beneficial reason (Bumps are only allowed 24 hours AFTER your last post to the thread.). One thread per new subject / one reply needed (use the Edit feature if you need to add something).

Repeat/cross-postings will be removed/moved/merged as needed.

English Only

The moderators/administrators and other users must be able to read and comprehend your posts. To ensure this, we ask that everyone posts in English. All mods/admins are able to read and write in English. ToonTown, VMK, Club Penguin, Pixie Hollow, and The World of Cars Online are all primarily English games by Disney and therefore setting a common grounds of communication so there is little reason to be writing in other languages on these forums. The only exception are the international forums on TTC as these are forums for the International ToonTown servers who speak other languages. You may also write in other languages to your friends in PM. This applies to PMs to mods/admins, arcade comments, gallery comments, Userpages, user profiles, posts, and threads titles.

Favoritism Posts/Polls

This includes posts that indicates "Who's the best poster, player, toon", etc. These often lead to confrontations when a person expresses a negative opinion about another person.

This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Flaming

Any posts that are hateful or mean in nature will be removed immediately. We do not tolerate attacks based on race, religion, gender, s**ual orientation, or political affiliation or any posts indicating grieving other users on the forums or in game by purposefully causing them to go sad because of their laugh limit, gag limit, age, etc.. No personal threats or harassment. This includes posting pictures representing an attack. Debate opinions and not the people behind them. This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Naming Names
This falls under "Flaming". Naming people or their characters in negative light is not permitted. That person is not able to defend themselves or their actions and what seems like an inappropriate action, which can often be a simple misunderstanding, can lead to a negative reaction against that toon (avoidance, revenge). If someone griefs you in the game, report it to game staff. If someone griefs you on this site, PM an admin or moderator or report their posts.

Hacking and Hacker Discussions

Any discussion of hackers, except to say that you've been hacked, will be removed from the forums. This includes admission of hacking, accusations of others being hackers (Naming Names/Flaming), sharing of hacking programs (3rd party programs), and altering original game files with the intent to alter original game playabilities. Inherent bugs and/or glitches of games will still be allowed to be discussed. Most programs these days have bugs or defects and it is understandable to discuss these types of gaming experiences. There's a large difference between hacking a game and exploiting a glitch inherent in a game. Anyone caught hacking a game will find their account suspended due to breaking the policies of the game provider. Doing a glitch can hardly be the fault of the player as these will occur accidental to many players or should be fixed by the game provider.

This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Highly Controversial Topics

These conversations tend to lead to violent outbursts based on strong personal beliefs. Posts which contain political commentary, religious or other highly controversial topics will be removed and action will be taken depending on the severity.

These topics may (but are not limited to) contain beliefs/opinions on religion, political subject matter (i.e., new governmental laws, candidates, etc.), abortion, sexual orientation and/or highly controversial current events.

This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Impersonation Of Other Users

Creating accounts on the site with similar names of existing users in order to cause chaos or misconceptions towards that user is not allowed and it can lead to permanent suspension from the site.

No new VMKforum.com accounts can be made using "CL_" in username. Existing and new users who are Community Leaders and would like to use (or continue to use) "CL_" in their usernames MUST be verified through one of our Moderators in-game.

Anyone impersonating or acting like they are an administrator or moderator is not allowed and can result in disciplinary action. If a user finds a thread or post that is inappropriate please report the thread or post and let the administration and moderating staff handle the situation.

Anyone found to be impersonating ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, CarsOnlineForums.com, or Disney staff will be dealt with immediately and harshly.

Irritating Posting Styles

This refers to posting styles which make it hard to read and/or comprehend what a user is attempting to state on their post(s). Mods and other users must be able to read and understand what you are posting. Use of all caps (indicates yelling), caps/lowercase variances (I wAnT A sEcReT fRiEnD), poor color choices for their text vs. forums background colors (such as white text on a yellow background), excessive punctuation (yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or letter repetition in a word (Woooooooot!) are both irritating and sometimes hard to read. These types of posts will be removed from the forums or edited by a mod.

This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Multiple/Sharing Accounts

Members are only allowed one username per person in a household and are strongly discouraged from sharing accounts with other family members and / or friends. In terms of guideline violations, ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, and CarsOnlineForums.com moderators/administrators may track multiple shared accounts from single or multiple computers as one account. If a guideline violation is severe enough, it may become necessary to ban/delete one or all of the usernames on the same computer, depending on the severity. You are responsible for anyone and everyone who uses your account and/or accesses other accounts from your computer.

The actions of one person could easily directly impact all known shared message board accounts.

NOTE: This does not apply to Admins/Moderators, we sometimes need multiple accounts to test technical issues that come up from various user levels and to do that properly it requires us to create "test" accounts.

Name Changes

One name change each year will be allowed. To use your name change, a valid reason for requesting a change will be required. "I want to," or any variation thereof, will not be a considered a valid reason. To request a name change, please PM an admin with your new name and a reason for the requested change.

If you have been suspended for a period of more than five days, you will not be able to receive a name change.

Special Note: We will not allow any name changes that contain characters which cannot be typed on a conventional English keyboard. This means that if your desired new name contains an accept, a little heart, or any other character that requires us to copy paste the name, it will not be allowed. Also the following characters won't be allowed: ! # ( ) * $ @ [ ] ? - " < > ' } {

Off-Topic/Nonsense Posts

If your post/thread doesn't make sense or is filled with gibberish, these posts will be removed. While we expect that some topics will stray a bit, if it completely hijacks the thread and/or disrupts the flow, those posts will either be removed or split into its own thread.

Personal Relationship Discussion

Posts/threads created to specifically discuss any of the following topics are not allowed since we maintain a strict G-rating on these forums: Taken, Baby, seeking or advocating BF/GF, Kissing, Dating, Weddings, Engagements, or any real life or virtual relationships. This is due to the adult/inappropriate nature these posts can take.

ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, and CarsOnlineForums.com are not dating services.

Personal Information

This site has children present therefore asking for or volunteering personal information is not allowed. This also applies to posting personal pictures of the users, their schools, homes (that include their exact locations), etc.

This applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures. We here at ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, and CarsOnlineForums.com strive to keep the environment as safe as possible for our users.

This also includes sites like Myspace.com, Xanga.com, or any type of social sites that allow personal information or unappropriate material that does not fall under the G-rating rules of this site.

WDIG'S Internet Safety Tips

Scamming

Creating posts in which a user attempts to take advantage of any other user by taking or falsely trading items such as in lotteries/raffles or any other forms of gambling is not allowed. Trading items through the ToonTown Cattlelog for monetary gain, buying time to power level toons/players, etc or posts relating to such acts are not allowed.

A scam is the act of acquiring item(s) or any other possession from another player through misinformation, confusion, or fraud. Posts which include advertised player-run games, contests, clubs, or groups that require entry/participation based on items given to the owner of the event are not allowed.

We do not allow the advertising of games that can cause harm to some members while enriching others. "Project Credits", "Donate your T-shirts for this prize," and similar types of posts/games/contests are not within the standards we have set for ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, or CarsOnlineForums.com.

These perpetrators are known as scammers and these types of acts will not be tolerated on our site.

This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Signature Lengths

Users should be considerate of other users on the forums. Excessive signatures cause the flow of the threads to be disrupted. Signature lengths over 10 text lines will be removed from user's profiles. This also applies to graphics that are larger than 500 x 200 pixels in length and width size. It doesn't matter how big the font size is as long as the total dimensions taken up by the signature text & graphic does not exceed 500 x 200 in pixel length and width.

So the total dimensions of the signature should not exceed this size:

Siglengthexample.jpg

Also, the file size of the signature should not exceed 200KB. We impose this limit as a courtesy for those on dial-up.

Spamming

"Spam" refers to posting identical and/or irrelevant messages to one thread or many different threads that have nothing to do with the intended subject, or posts that disrupt a thread or fill the message board with clutter. Mass PMing people you don't know or who haven't invited you to PM them, posting for the sole purpose of boosting your post count, threads with the sole purpose of posting "what I did today..." (this is a forum, not a blog or chatroom), excessive bumping of threads (you are allowed one bump per thread twenty-four (24) hours after the last post created in the thread!), one or two letter replies (i.e. ok, LOL, Yes, agreed, nods), and excessive use of smileys as a response are all considered "spam".

This applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.

Trolling

Intentionally posting false arguments, flames or personal attacks for no other purpose than to incite a negative reaction, annoy others or disrupt a discussion is also prohibited. These perpetrators are known as "trolls".

Anyone impersonating or acting like they are an administrator or moderator is not allowed and can result in disciplinary action. If a user finds a thread or post that is inappropriate please report the thread or post and let the administration and moderating staff handle the situation.

This applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures with the intent to harass the members or staff of this site.

Violators of this policy will result in suspension of their account.

Trading Post Forum Guidelines (VMKforums.com only)

These rules and guidelines have been set up to make trading on the VMKforums.com a positive experience for all. Please read all the way to end. Post or PM a moderator if you have questions or concerns.

How can I trade in the forums?

Trade threads and offers may only be posted in trade forums. In order to post trades one first must become a member of "Trader Mick's Trading Post". To join click your "UserCP" (located near the top of the home page.) Scroll down and click "Group Memberships" (located on the left column.) Request to join "Trader Mick's".

What type of trades go here?

  • If you are definite about the item you WANT and have an idea of what you want to trade for it, it goes in Trades.
  • If you know what you have to TRADE and have an idea of what you'd be willing to take for it, it goes in I Have To Trade.

When can I bump my trade thread?

  • You may only bump your own thread up (not someone else's) 24 hours after you last posted when no one else has replied.
  • This does not mean "once a day" like any time during the day you want. If you post at noon today, you may not post again until noon tomorrow when no one else has replied.
  • Bumping early or double posting is against our rules. Also, if you delete a post in your thread and repost before 24 hours - that is also considered bumping and moderators can see those deleted posts!

Can I trade for my friend/sibling/fellow banned user?

No We do not allow anyone on the forums to trade for other people. If you have a friend or sibling that wants to trade, please have them join VMKForums and Trader Mick's in order to trade here. Trading on behalf of a banned person is also not allowed. Going around this rule is grounds for removing you from Trader Mick's.

What is NOT allowed to be traded at VMKForums?

This list includes items that cannot be traded, sold, bought, donated, raffled, and/or begged for.

Codes

Due to problems with users being banned at VMK with entering multiple codes at once, we have made the decision here at VMKForums to disallow ANY code trading except rooms or items only obtainable by codes (VIP badges for example).

We feel this is the best measure for several reasons:

These items are no longer tradeable but in an event to prevent people scamming with generators, this is the only solution.

Quest Kiosk Credit Trading and Non-Credit Trading

We DO NOT allow the trade of credits through the Quest Kiosk. Please, don't complain as this rule will not be lifted in the foreseeable future. Should you choose to do this with another user you must set it up in-game and NOT here at the forums. At this time, we also DO NOT allow any trades using the Quest Kiosk, because many users have been going around our rules to set up credit trades.

Disney Movie Rewards Codes
  • ADDED (23 December 2006): The trading of Disney Movie Rewards codes are not allowed since they go far beyond the parameters in the trading feature built in VMK. Since these trades rely on going outside of VMK and involve items outside of VMK, it allows the opportunity for many things to go wrong and is not allowed in VMKForums.
    • You can always directly trade the actual movie set (offered as a reward option for Disney Movie Rewards) with another player through the in-game trading feature. The movie codes are not an actual VMK item and the VMK item(s) involved can be obtained via a regular in-game trade.
Real VMK Cards/Pins/Merchandise

ADDED (15 January 2007):You many NOT trade real merchandise (quest cards, pins, shirts, etc.) here in the forums due to asking/receiving personal information to complete such trades. (Real life names and addresses.) These threads/posts will be removed by moderators as they're found, and warnings will be sent.

Non-VMK Items/Codes/Accounts

ADDED (29 May 2007): You may NOT trade codes, merchandise, accounts, items from ANY OTHER GAME (for example: Pokemon, Runescape, Coke Rewards, etc.) either for VMK items OR for other like items. What does this mean?

  • I have a Neopets items and want to trade it for a VMK item. NO!
  • I have a Runescape account I no longer use and want to trade it for VMK items. NO!
  • I have a Pokemon item that I want to trade for another Pokemon item. NO!

There are several reasons for this:

  • There is no way to monitor trades from other games here in the forums.
  • This is a VMK fansite, not one for other games. If you wish to trade items from another game, find a fansite for that game.
  • Trading accounts breaks our rule about Personal Information

Consequences

Threads that offer/ask for these kinds of trades will be promptly removed and users may be warned.

In addition, please... DO NOT ACCEPT TRADES containing codes as we cannot and will not do anything about scams should it take place for these items. If the item can be traded for, do not accept a code, it's probably a scam.

Can I post comments and opinions on trade threads?

Can I ask what my offer/item is worth? NO!

We do not allow posts and comments such as:

''Good offer!''
''That offer stinks!''
''I wish I had inferno.''
''Good luck!''
''What is ___ worth?''

Why?

  • They are off topic to trade threads and can lead to debate and spam. We want to keep the trading posts to just trading. These types of posts are spam and will be deleted if we find them.
    • If you are seeking opinions on an offer or care to debate the worth of items, please use our Price is Right forum.

How do I close/open my trade thread?

When you are on your own thread there's an option up top called "thread tools". If you click it, a dropdown menu comes up and the option to "close thread" comes up. click the circle to highlight it and click the Perform Action button.

For the reverse if you wanted to open it, do the same thing-the "close thread" option changes to "open thread."

Forum Infractions

Forum infractions may result in immediate actions being taken that can range from written warnings, temporary suspension or permanent suspension from this site, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense:

Swearing or Cussing - profane or obscene language, usually of surprise or anger.

R or X-rated material (picture or website) - Pornographic material deemed inappropriate for children and most adults.

Violence - Violence is any attitude, word, or action that threatens or destroys the human dignity of a human person or groups of persons.

The Moderators here at ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, PixieHollowForums.com, and CarsOnlineForums.com have a monumental task watching these forums. Due to the vast number of members and the incredible number of posts per day, we sometimes do not manage to immediately catch all rule violations which is why we do ask for your help in catching things that might slip by.

Moderators and Administrators are held to an even higher standard for following the rules than regular users. If you have an issue with actions taken or displayed by a Moderator please report it to an Administrator. If you have an issue with an Administrator please report it to Nick.

Reporting A Thread Or Post To A Moderator

If you see anything questionable or another member is getting out of hand, click on the yellow triangle on the upper right corner of the post in question.

Please include a brief message stating who the person is & what they did specifically. Do not use this feature for any other reason and do not take matters into your own hands by replying, PMing, or scolding a person. Please click the button to report a post only once.

An email is sent to all Moderators/Administrators for that forum and it will be dealt with as soon as they see the email.

Discussion community comments archived from Talk:Policies and Disclaimers

Made some minor edits.

The admins would like to change this so all the policies were on a single page. No one is going to go to all those links to figure out our policies.

Updated policies to include ClubPenguinFansite.com

Did what I could for now in terms of making it one page....might want to work on some of the formatting later to make it flow more. If you have any imput/suggestions/criticism please let me know. Also, I just took the levels of text straight from what we had before, so there may be some changes you might want made after seeing it in its full page glory ;)

--UpInTheAir 15:54, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Thank you very much. This will work fine till we have time to do some editing and updating.

--Batleth 12:52, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

need to add PFH to list of forums these apply to...

Just thought I might add, you might want to change the bottom part to describe as;

"You can report posts by clicking the red "Report to a Moderator" button in the upper-right hand corner of every post." (Report post.gif)
