Cast Members

Cast Members are persons paid to assist the guests of VMK and create a hospitable atmosphere. All cast members have member names beginning with "VMK_". Cast members check into reports of harassment or rule violations. Since it is their job to enforce the rules and values of VMK, cast members can sometimes come off as "mean" or "strict". Just remember that they are only trying to make the game fun and safe for everyone!

All staff members wear blue and red uniforms and have an orange badge in their profile (pictured). Prior to October 1, 2006, their uniforms were green.

New Uniforms

In the Newsletter 25 September 2006 this was announced:

"New Staff Uniforms

Finally, it's out with the green and in with the red. The new staff uniforms are based on the classic Disneyland Tour Guide outfits, cool huh?"

• As of 2 October 2006 all staff members are wearing retro-Disneyland staff member clothing. This new clothing includes red ears.

Cast Interviews

On 12 December 2005 VMK launched the first Newsletter that featured Cast Members interviews. The interview provided a glimpse into the personalities of the VMK staff. While some of the information included more commonly known facts about the Cast Members, these interviews allowed VMK guests to learn a little bit more about the people who help keep VMK running smoothly. As an added bonus, those who read the Newsletter would often find themselves with an advantage in events hosted by the Cast Members, as trivia questions were sometimes taken from these interviews.

Do Players have a "nickname" for you?

• No but they sing the song all the time: "There was a farmer had a dog and VMK_Bingo was its title oh"

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• Grandfather clock (need to know what time it is), Lumiere candle (I just think he is cute) and Ariel's brown treasure chest.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• The Jungle Cruise Explorer's Tent. I just love the gorilla, even though the flies make me want to swat them.

Best VMK moment?

• The day we got our 1 pins; means we were all here from the start.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• Storybookland! Great place to hide, great seats, and the view of the water is peaceful, (I wish I could see what is in the whale).

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• Jeans! And sneakers, they're easier to walk in than flips!

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Please do not tell anyone you are home alone. It is not a safe practice, and we really do want you to be safe in VMK.

Do Players have a "nickname" for you?

• Yes, they call me Fin and I love it!

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• Blue flying carpet chairs and blue hampers because they are beautiful; red turnstiles, red number generators and red scoreboards because they really make a game room look terrific (red crates and red tents are awesome!), fountains because they are so relaxing to watch.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• Being the adventurous type, I like the Jungle Cruise Explorer's Tent and the Pirate Prison Rooms.

Best VMK moment?

• The day we signed on and found VMK decorated for Halloween and seeing all the great comments made about the decorations.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• Besides enjoying all the different guest rooms, I like the Esplanade and Town Square for hanging out.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• Blue jeans (regular jeans not the baggy kind), red shirt, and red sneakers. Can you tell I like blue and red?

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• To remember that everyone you meet in the game is really a stranger to you, even though you may call them "friend". Be very careful to never give out information that could help someone find you outside of the game.

Do Players have a "nickname" for you?

• If the dictionary allowed it, they probably would. I like to call myself "Snailie".

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• I like teleporters for my room because they are magical. I like cow skulls to give my room a touch of tackiness. And finally, I like my dusty piano, to give my room some mystery and a place for spiders to hang out.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• I like the Space Mountain rooms!

Best VMK moment?

• Dancing in a row at the close of VMK.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• I enjoy hanging out in VMK Central because it is fun to help out the new members. I also like standing over the sleeping princesses in Banquet Hall, chiding them for eating too much.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• I'd love to have a space suit.

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Don't dance and drink water at the same time. You could choke. No, seriously - never give out your messenger name! You don't know who you are REALLY talking to, so giving out personal information is dangerous.

• Not that I know of and I don't think I'd want to know

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• I love the barrel chairs -- don't know why, I just do. They're cute and you can buy a ton of them and put them anywhere. I also love the crates and the Galleon Room Dividers because you can make a cool pirate ship out of them, as one very creative player taught me.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• By far, the new Space Mountain room is the coolest. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I enter the room and see it - almost like it's the first time I'm seeing it. My second favorite has to be the Frontierland Room because I just love that whole western theme and I dig the music.

Best VMK moment?

• My best VMK moment is always when a player takes the time to tell me how our staff has helped them better enjoy the game and how much VMK makes them want to visit a Disney theme park.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• In Player game rooms because they always comes up with something creative and fun to play.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• I'd wear shorts, a Mickey T-shirt and a crown because I'm a princess!

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Please please please remember not to accept a trade until you see that the other Player has entered the items you agreed upon on their side of the trade window. Don't let anyone talk you into accepting a trade before they've entered their items.

• I'm often called Miss Flamingo

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• Wow, a difficult question. I'm very excited to have pink and yellow glass slippers now to complete my collection for my Flamingo's Glass Slipper Room. But, for overall use I very much like the Tiki Fountain, the water coolers (I have a LOT of these) and my sweet hippo rugs.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• I like rooms with themes. The wonderful Christmas rooms, game rooms and especially well-decorated rooms all much appeal to me.

Best VMK moment?

• The day my sweet Mac became able to get into the game! I don't think there has been a day since that I haven't spent a bit of time playing in VMK.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• I like walking in the clouds, watching the elephants, admiring the flamingos and watching for Donald to pass the window.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• I enjoyed being able to wear different hats. The Seagull (mine was named OceanRider) was a special favorite.

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Players who are rude, bad-mannered, who cut in line and who are just plain mean are best erased from your memory bank by putting them on ignore. That way the Call for Help button is more available for someone with a true emergency.

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• Water fountain, drinking fountain, and crates (you can never have enough of those).

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• There are just so many. I love seeing the imagination of the Players as they decorate/design their rooms. Just amazing!

Best VMK moment?

• Going into one of VMK_Zev's space room one evening. At first there were only a few people there and as others started wandering in, we started dancing. Before you knew it there was a good sized crowd in there all dancing and posing for pictures. What fun to see so many join in.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• I just love walking up and down the street. Ok, so I'm kind of strange.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers (and a chicken hat if I had one).

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Please, by all means, do not give out personal information. We can have just as much fun out here without having to give our identity away. Let's keep safe out there!

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• Leota's crystal ball, the Haunted Mansion fireplace and the Haunted Mansion couch. What can I say? I'm a Haunted Mansion fan.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• Haunted Mansion, of course!

Best VMK moment?

• Every time I see someone helping a new member find what they're looking for or making friends with them - those make up all of my favorite moments in VMK.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• That would have to be the Haunted Mansion.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• A green princess dress!

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• While it might seem sometimes that the VMK staff are being mean when they keep you from talking about the personal details of your life (your age, location, school you go to, etc.) we are only trying to keep you safe. Please help us by following the VMK Values and reporting anyone that asks you for personal information or who makes you feel uneasy.

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• The blue flying carpet chairs -- I love the colors and they look so nice with the Tiki Fountain -- it's so re****l and relaxing; Herbie couches just because they are so adorable!

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• My own favorite is the Mad Hatter's Tea Party room but when I wander around VMK, my favorite rooms are the ones of any style that show how creative our Players are. There are some truly awesome rooms out there.

Best VMK moment?

• Right before the first event when the kids got to see Dancing Inferno for the first time. They were so excited and happy about such a cool magic pin that it made my night.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• I love going to Town Square and Central Plaza and just talking to the Players.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• Jeans, sneakers, and a Mickey sweatshirt.

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Never give anyone your login information for any reason. Don't enter your login name and password into a form other than on a real Disney site.

VMK_Conga

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• The Tiki Fountain, because I like fountains and waterfalls - and I like all Tiki stuff, too. * The Teacups chairs. They remind me of Fantasyland and when I was a kid. * The Chernabog Rug. It really stands out. I was amazed and surprised this was created, as it's the last thing I would have thought of, but Fantasia is one of my favorite films, and I love telling players what inspired the rug.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• I like the ones set up to look like the time of year or an upcoming holiday. It's amazing what some players think up using VMK items to match the season.

Best VMK moment?

• The time I walked into the same room two other staff were in. The players were so thrilled to see three of us together, and it was nice to be able to talk to all of them as members of a team. With just one or two of us together, they don't get to see how well we work together.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK?

• I like sitting on a bench in Town Square so I can "listen" to what players are saying and watch them go in and out of the park and the Emporium.

If you could wear a different outfit, what would it would be?

• Probably the space suit. I've always liked Tomorrowland.

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Keep your hands and arms inside the game at all times and stay seated please. Seriously, if you go to another player's room and they demand you pay an item in your inventory to play their game, and if you are not comfortable with doing that, don't complain and don't pay. You can always go somewhere else in VMK and have just as good a time.

VMK_Willa

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?

• The Purple Haunted Mansion Chairs, because they are so comfy;
• The crate coffee tables because they have so many uses;
• The tiki fountain because its relaxing.

Favorite type of Guest Room?

• The Briar room because its so cozy!

Favorite Public Space?

• I love to hang out with the dragon, I think she gets lonely.

Favorite Mini-Game?

• Jungle Cruise

Best VMK moment?

• The first event I was here for was the staff Monsters Inc teleporter maze. It was so much fun building rooms and then watching folks work their way through and enjoy them.

Favorite place to hang out in VMK? Just one?? I love visiting Main Street at closing time, everyone is dancing and in such a good mood.

Best tip for someone new to VMK?

• Although it would be nice if we could trust everyone, just like in the real world you need to be careful with your belongings. Don't ask someone to hold things for you, don't let anyone "borrow" your things and don't lend clothes to another character so they can "try them on." Even if they promise you they won't run off with your stuff, you never know. I always say never let anyone borrow anything you would be upset about losing.

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Remember that you know nothing about the person behind the character. You should never share any personal information. It can be very dangerous. Don't share any details about your life and your family on VMK - stay safe!

VMK_Lion

Three favorite pieces of furniture and why?

• The Narnia Teleporters because they have my picture on the back!
• Jungle Book Throne so that I can sit in my Animal Safari Room and look out of the jungle!
• Tiki Tiki Tiki Fountain is great to sit by during the warm summer days and dip my paws into to stay cool.

Favorite Public Space?

• Main Street, where it's all happening and everybody passes by to say hello.

Best VMK moment?

• My favorite moments in VMK are any time I see players helping other players and being kind to each other. It makes me give out a big ROAR of happiness and it's fun when the room roars with me. .

Favorite Disney Movie and why?

• The Lion King, naturally. It is about my favorite subject, lions. Also because the story is about good triumphing over evil, the value of friendship and how all species get along and help each other. The music is also great.

Favorite Disney Character?

• Mufasa

What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?

• Besides the obvious, to never ever give out any personal information to anybody, it is important that you trade safely! Do not loan things to people or let them try on something. If they want to trade with you, then they can put the object in the trade box at the same time you do. Please, please, do not ever give up something unless you are prepared to loose it for good. Not all people mean what they say, so protect yourself from those who try to take things without giving in return.

Contacting CMs

The Cast Members are available in the game if you have any legitimate emergency. If you have witnessed a rule violation you can report it to VMK staff using the HELP button in the lower right corner of the Toolbar. Clicking this button will bring up a tabbed menu. Click on the tab labeled "Call for Help" and the Call for Help window will appear. Remember to ONLY use the help button if you are reporting a true emergency. VMK staff recommends that if you see someone saying offensive things which are bothering you, to use the "Ignore" button. The "Ignore" button can be found in the player's profile and by clicking "Ignore" you will not be able to see the players words for a short amount of time. However if you need to report something make sure you fill everything out correctly on the Call for Help Screen. Currently typing into the Call for Help fields are subject to the VMK Dictionary although in the past there used to be no such limitations.
