- Hi Priz! Just thought I'd let you know I'll try to add pics to your other room pages sometime soon.

SO I have seen your messages about the templates and saw what you did on the timeline (nice!) But I have yet to figure out how you did it. Is there a list of templates for our pages? I am lost now lol. It seems that you can answer on my talk page? This is new to me --SpinMarty 13:34, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

--SpinMarty 18:05, 16 August 2006 (CDT) I STILL have no idea how you create a template. Actually, I understand the template part but I don't see how you make a new page for a template! GRRR

Garfieldo

It's like uploading a new image. You type { {template:whateveryouwannacallit} } and then click on the link, and create it. Simple as that.

I actually feel its more like creating a new page. What I usually (usually? I've done it four whole times. LOL!) is the following:

  • Edit some page where I will test the template (usually the page I will eventually use it on, so I can compare it to how it used to look).
  • Change the text I'm replacing with {{whatever}} (It defaults to the Template namespace, so you don't need to put that in.)
  • Click on Show preview
  • The text will be replaced with a link. Click on the link, and I'm taken to the edit page for Template:Whatever
  • Edit my template and save it.
  • Go back to the page I'm testing it on and click Show preview again, and see how the template now looks.

Confused as to your suggestion about the themes. Do you mean like one page of halloween, one page of christmas, etc.? I haven't really decided on how to do it yet so any ideas are apprecaited.

I finally made it into the Inner Space shop so I can thoroughly add prices, etc. Since we have had several more come on board the quests are starting to shape up nicely.

My next project, well working at the same time, is the public rooms in VMK. Yavn has offered to send me clean screen shots of each of the rooms (ie: no players, words, etc.) Let me know if there are any guest room ones you wish to have.

I see somewhat what you are saying. I agree that having a separate page per theme/grouping makes sense. What I don't seem to see is your presentation. My thought is that I don't wish to change pricing and location information other than in one page which is why I put which category the item is listed under. --SpinMarty 02:07, 5 September 2006 (CDT)

cool but . . .

So I like that idea for the template. I see that it would be easy to collect. My concern is twofold: 1) We would possibly need a list for reference for anyone editing to know where to change the info 2) See the itemTronChair template. I changed the item name to be Tron Cherry to see how it worked across the pages and it failed to change any other page (Chairs, Tron Month) except it's own template. If it does, indeed, change the rest then I am all for this system (provided we come up with a solution for item 1 above.) However, my attempt didn't see the results. --SpinMarty 09:04, 5 September 2006 (CDT)

about my test reply

I think the link within the photo idea may be good (we can even add that to each template). I did, however, do a refresh several times to no avail (yes, I tried that before posting to you in the first place.) I will try at work but the "Cherry" part never apeared on my side in the Chairs section. --SpinMarty 09:10, 5 September 2006 (CDT)

from work test

nope, the item did not change here at my work computer either. But you did mention that it worked foryou. Odd.

Like Checklist

So I like what you did for the lightcycles. That totally works for me. :) I would make four categories, then, for people to not have to have a list they may not wish. Example: category:furniture, category:pins, category:costumes/hats, category:clothing (which is how I have the checklist page broken down!) Then, adding the Category pages to the VMK-TOC players can easily access each list! This would also make it easier for editors to find for editing, adding! It is nice that they can be actually called their title rather than adding "item" ni the front. Thanks! Now, the arduous task of moving it all lol! --SpinMarty 14:42, 22 September 2006 (CDT)

Tag

Tag team editing again lol. You are faster because I am still trying to figure out the price templates. The item templates, however, are making more sense (that and I just copy/paste from ones you previsouly did and change the info :) ) --SpinMarty 09:43, 6 November 2006 (CST)

Thanks for the follow-up on the items. I looked at so many posts yesterday to determine what was up that I was confused about those two items :) (Pink door, ice cube). The forums are an amazing source of info and mis-info :) --SpinMarty 09:01, 22 November 2006 (CST)

Pins/Clothing and Templates

If you agree, I am going to move all of the pins to the current "item" template that you came up with, substituting "furniture checklist" with "pin checklist". I am still debating the clothing/costumes/hats using the same template (obviously adding a "clothing checklist"). I think that the same template can be used for it as well. Reason: ease of adding it to several locations (like you mentioned for the furniture.) The Haunted Mansion Theme page, for example. You can see how it was easy to add the pins to the table. Thoughts? --SpinMarty 09:42, 22 November 2006 (CST)

I think that we can live with the "color" column. As far as the costumes, I have been debating with myself about how to add all of that information that I have been putting with them. A simple idea would be the one that you mentioned, creating a separate page for each costume. Easy to do. As you noticed, I decided to do that with the "theme" pages (which Reebee is making graphics for, BTW :)) I will come up with a format for one of the costume pages and see what you think. It is nice to have to week off from teaching lol. --SpinMarty 09:58, 22 November 2006 (CST)

LOL OK that is funny. You obviously spent your morning mapping out the new room. I have been adding all the info for the items and taking photos to add. Can we say "VMK Addict"? :) --SpinMarty 12:50, 23 November 2006 (CST)

Squiddy22

This was a post you made in my user talk page:

Squiddy, I have reverted all the bullets you added to the VMK page to their default smaller bullets. The VMK bullets you used were too large, added a lot of whitespace to the page (making an already long page longer), made it a much more complex page to edit and maintain, and didn't make the page better (and may have made it "less clean" looking). I know that must have taken a while to do, but I don't think it fits what we're trying to do with the VMK pages.

I'd also suggest that you add a summary to most of what you do in the summary box above the save page button, to make changes easier for others to review.

I see you've done a lot of changes on the Toontown side, which is great! Glad you're an active editor on the wiki. (Prisoner 10:27, 26 March 2007 (CDT))

Thanks for letting me know. Sorry about the VMK bullets, I was just trying to make it look any better, but I guess I ended making is worse. Again, I'm sorry.

I try to write a summary for my edits, butthere are some edits I make that are hard work, and I don't have time or I am too tired to think about my summary. I'll try, though.

Thanks for the comment on the TT page. I even re-made some of the bullets because I think it looks a lot better.

P.S. Please reply back in my user talk page.

Squiddy22

This is your reply from my reply to your comment.

I know you're trying to make the wiki better, and trust me - I appreciated the effort! I'm only sorry that I had to revert all your hard work on the VMK side. I do like what you did with the bullets on the Toontown side - just that VMK is "different".

And I understand that sometimes the summary can seem like a burden after all the other work, but we do ask that people do it as best they can to help everyone else who is reviewing work. (Hey, I've forgotten too. Lots of times.) (Prisoner 04:26, 27 March 2007 (CDT))

Okay. That's understandable. I like the way you say how VMK is different, or shall I say "different". Another reason the summary is hard for me is because I don't always know how to say things, and I don't want to spend too much time trying to figure it out.

Templates

I think we should add more templates, Priz, for inventory items. Perhaps..
  • Able to be put on walls
  • Able to be sat upon
  • Able to be stacked
  • Able to be lit/unlit
  • Not available to players
  • Animation Object
  • Interactive Object
  • Teleporter
  • Ride Pieces

Or even a smaller list, I'm just looking for some more templates so we can further divide the inventory. --Schmoofytalk 16:27, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Lagoona Gator

Are you sure about this release? It hasn't been mentioned in VMKf yet (they say this week's pin is a repeat, the Ice Gator). I am on dial up and cannot get in yet. --SpinMarty 09:26, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Help:Editing

I added a Members Only template for Club Penguin, and the Spoilers Template for VMK totally erased.. this happened when I added the Room Shop template also, but everything doubled.. maybe perhaps you could but the Spoilers thing back and put the Item Template in Club Penguin? Thanks. --Xiaolin 13:28, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Shirts

We need to start on a REALLY BIG project.. the Shirts! So what should we name them? How do we categorize them? I think the first step should be to find out how many different kinds there are, if they are male or female, and how many colors of each there are?

Also, are the Cargo Shorts and Leisure Canvas Slip-Ons Male Only? --Xiaolin 08:06, 21 August 2007 (CDT)

Magic Times Template

Is it okay? Should I put it on the Autopia page also? --Xiaolin 10:27, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

Arcade Cabinet

It was a DREAM Squad prize.. they gave me a Tron Cabinet and a Lightcycle Couch Green. --Xiaolin 12:31, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

Pirate Quest Items Put Retired?

When the quest to originally get the code, retired, so did the items, so I was going through the items, and putting retired in, but then I saw in somebody else's User Page, that with codes, you don't put a retire on them until the code is retired. But, the code on the back of the card said when it would retire, but with some of the quests, VMK made the codes last longer. So what should we do with the retire date, I can go back and get rid of it, or we could put the retire date, that was on the cards. I put the retire dates on the todo list as well.--CL_Haveamagicalday

Ned's Pic

Hey there Priz. Sorry I left right in the middle of our conversation back there, I had a really important real life matter that needed to be taken care of. Anyway, I got disconnected and I THOUGHT I had been logging our chat, but apparently I wasn't. So, could you give me a small briefing of what should be done to ol' NedStub? --~~Garffy 11:59, 14 September 2007 (CDT)

One Of Your TODO's

On the TODO you put here, I started to do them, and then thought it might not be what you wanted. Is it? Here's one that I've done, 50th Celebration Director's Chair. Let me know! --CL_Haveamagicalday

CL_ Titles

From what Yavn says about leaders losing the CL_, are we going to have to give up our CL_ here like we will have to on the forums? --CL_Haveamagicalday

Stub and Test

If you were wondering what I was doing, I was trying to put a limit to the TOC's so later on, we can compact it down when more pins come out. --Xiaolin 16:25, 1 November 2007 (CDT)

Sub Sections Limit

I've moved this to Talk:Gordon Greer Quest, where it seems to make more sense at the moment. --Prisoner 19:50, 30 November 2007 (CST)

Former names/renames

I understand what you mean and was debating such myself. However at the time I had decided to go the safest route and just document the changes as such. Since it seems we are both in agreement that the incorrect name was the fault of the wiki, I will be removing the redirects and former names. I know we have similar issues with many of the pin pages as well. Unfortunately the fact that we even have wiki errors such as these that have not been corrected does not reflect well upon us. I'm hoping that our editors will buckle down and work to correct such errors and finish projects that seem to have been abandoned mid-way.--UpInTheAir 15:36, 8 January 2008 (CST)'''

It wasn't really that the wiki was "wrong", it was more that, vmk changed the name of the item. That's why I think it should be noted someplace that names were changed by adding the word "color" when necessary. --Haveamagicalday 18:13, 9 January 2008 (CST)

Except that VMK didn't change the name. We changed the name in the wiki. (At least for some of these that I mentioned.) At one point for those things that were of the form "Object color blue" we had it as "Object" in the name column, and "blue" in the color column. And didn't have the name correct. Up is going through and correcting that now. --Prisoner 18:22, 9 January 2008 (CST)
