Jolly Roger Flag
This was retired, I did NOT see it in Shrunken Ned's Shop, it was removed in attempt to it being given out on 1 March 2008 when you logged in, but it did not work, so none of the players received it, and it was not in the stores. --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 18:00, 3 March 2008 (CST)
Do you have any proof of this? Based on reports from the forums, people who were noting that they had not received their free flag were advised to purchase one in Shrunken Ned's shop under the Poster section. Based on these reports and the fact that the poster is still being sold in shop I concluded that the poster had been incorrectly retired.
I'm not sure why you are making assumptions on reasons this item might have been removed. Please stick to the facts when formulating your defense. We know that the newsletter said the flag would be awarded to players who entered the kingdom, and as far as we know, there have been no reports of people getting this flag. You claim you could not find this item. But unless you have further information, alleging that it was unavailable because VMK was trying to figure out the awarding situation and that it didn't work is pure speculation on your part. The fact of the matter is that the Jolly Roger Flag is currently available. To me, if anything this seems like a case of it being temporarily removed from a shop instead of being subjected to retirement.--UpInTheAir 18:24, 3 March 2008 (CST)
If I had a picture of it, I would have posted it. I'm not going on the fact that I saw this stated in the newsletter. My fact is I saw it on the newsletter, yes, and I DID check it out in the shops early in the morning, when SpinMarty and I were putting retirment, re-/releases on the items. I did NOT see it, and that is my backup. If they brought it back later on in the day, because players were NOT receiving the free flag. Again, I did NOT assume it was retired, I saw it with my own eyes that it was NOT there. If you carefully read what I said above, I said "...I did NOT see it in Shrunken Ned's Shop...". So saying that I assumed it was retired, was not accurate. --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 18:37, 3 March 2008 (CST)
Apparently I misspoke, because I'm not sure you've been able to grasp the point of my reply. The assumption I'm talking about would be your "reasoning" as to why you didn't see this item. I did not say that you were basing your actions on assumptions, I'm saying that you formulated your defense and justified your actions with assumptions. I am reserving judgment on whether or not the item was available until further information comes to light. As it currently is, I am faced with conflicting information from different sources, neither of which have presented me with any concrete evidence.
By this point we should all realize that VMK has proven time and time again to be inconsistent and a conscientious editor would make an effort to confirm information they put into the wiki numerous times throughout the day.
Honestly, I think this has been blown out of proportion. There are a few possible scenarios that could have been what actually happened.
- The item never left the stores
- The item was temporarily unavailable for a short amount of time
- The item was not in stores at all on 1 March 2008
Nevertheless, the item is in stores now, having it listed as retired is inaccurate and irresponsible. Until things can be straightened out, I see no harm in keeping the page as it was. If you can provide me with any information besides your "word" that the item was not there and then later returned, I will be more than happy to add a note to the wiki regarding it's temporary leave of absence.--UpInTheAir 19:00, 3 March 2008 (CST)
