Quests are a fun way to earn new items and usually, learn more about the game. They help give a new take on those tutorials and tend to feature a nice amount of back story as well. They also give you a hefty amount of Talent Points, to level up quickly. You can receive quests from talking to official fairies in their fairy homes in the meadows. You may finish multiple quests and steps at once if several tell you to go to the same fairy or do the same task, however, you can only receive one quest per fairy at a time. Some quests also have prerequisites (tasks that need to be done first) before they will show up on the available quest list for you to do.
Repeatable Quests are Member's Only Quests that can be done as many times as you like and are not removed like the other quests once you finish. You may choose to do either a Trade Quest, most of which will give you a unique bottle of dye as a reward, or you may do a Talent-Specific Quest to practice your Talent Skills in the Wilderness. Originally, if a Famous Fairy had three or more repeatable quests, the repeatable quests would randomly switch around and only two were shown at a time.
Mainland Quests are Quests for all players that are gotten from Kit by visiting her Place located in Evergreen Overlook. Each quest is only one step and involves you doing something in real life (or on The Mainland) to complete it. When you log into Pixie Hollow the next day, you can go back to Kit to complete the quest and get a new one. Unlike most quests, you do not get a reward from these; however, you get a point toward several badges for every Mainland Quest you finish. Prior to the release of Kit's Hideout, you visited her by clicking the Bell at the Pixie Postings Message Board.
Steps
All quests have various steps that can range from very simple to somewhat hard. You can find a quick summary of the types of steps you may find below. The quests can have these steps in ANY order and some quests may only have a few of these steps rather than all of them.
Talking
Probably the easiest step there is. All you have to do is head to the famous fairy you're instructed to meet and talk to her.

Games
Depending on how your game skills are, this step can either be really easy or somewhat difficult. To finish this kind of step, all you need to do is head over to the game, reach the high score, and then quit (or wait until the game is over). If you're having trouble hitting the high score, fear not, as luckily, the scores are cumulative, so you can play five times getting a score of roughly 2,000 each time to hit that 10,000 point score that you need to finish the quest! After, you just have to head back to the fairy and let her know you finished. Prior to the addition of quest alerts, you had to make sure you remembered what score you needed to finish the step.

Shopping
This can be easy, but sometimes what you're asked for requires a more complicated item to be purchased. Most of the time, the famous fairy will ask for one or more bottles of dye, or a furniture item. All you have to do is purchase this dye and/or item (and possibly gather up material to do so) and then bring it back to the fairy. If you already have an item in your storage or Pouch that meet the requirements of the step, you can choose to give the item straight away. This is a Member's Only Quest step.

Tailoring, Tinkering and Baking
Several quests feature tailoring, tinkering or baking. You may be asked to make the item by Practicing, which is available for all players and does not require any additional ingredients, or by Personal making, which is for Members only and will require you to use a few ingredients and one or two dye bottles for tailoring and tinkering. For Practicing, you may simply choose to do one of the steps for an item, and it will still count towards the quest. Prior to 26 March, some quests required you to Practice Tailor in the color that they asked for, and Personal Tailoring steps were available for all players.
These type of steps may be general (by just giving the type of clothing or a certain number of batches for baking) or be specific (a Tinker Pot or 6 Acorn Cookies) with what they want so be sure to pay attention. They also tell you which of the two Tailoring Nooks to go to, so don't just think you can go to whichever is easier.
Once you've finished, whether you needed to do it practice or personal, just head back to the famous fairy. You will have to physically give the personally tailored or tinkered item to the famous fairy, whereas cookies will be automatically deducted from your Pouch. If you already have a personally made item in your wardrobe, storage or Pouch that meet the requirements of the step, you can choose to give the item to them straight away.

Ingredients
Another one of the easier quest jobs. All you have to do is give the famous fairy the amount of the ingredient they ask for (for example, 10 Sunflower Seeds). If you already have required amount, you may simply give the correct amount of ingredients without having to leave.

24 Hour Wait
This is simple, but boring. More or less you can't finish the step until 24 hours have passed, or it's the next day. This is a Mainland Only Quest step.

When you finish a quest, you will either get one reward or get to pick from a select few. You will also receive a certain amount of Talent Points. The more difficult the quest has been, the larger the amount of points you earn. Unless the quest is repeatable, it will permanently disappear from your quest list.
