Welcome! Posted by: Cal

Hello Motos!

Wow, is this place awesome or what? Let me take a moment and introduce myself, my name is Caliber Converter (Remember only use your car name online, never give out your real name!), Cal for short. I'm one of the many mechanics who work on the World of Cars. My primary job around here is to communicate any and all technical information to you crazy drivers and keep this place more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Which, if you've ever seen a barrel full of monkeys, you'd know what I'm talking about. Craziness!

You can always leave comments and let us know what's going on, and if there's a problem, make sure to tell us exactly what's going on and how to reproduce it. Sadly, we can't read minds, so the more details you can give us, the quicker we can get the ratchets rockin'!

So, that said, here are the latest patch notes for October 17, 2008:

Patch Notes (10.17.08):

Registration:

  • Account ID Suggestion dialog box (This here is for when some other racer got the account ID you wanted. Our team will suggest something just as good.)
  • White drop-down text boxes for the birthday (previously red, easier to read)
  • A new account ID error indicating that leading/trailing spaces are invalid, you can't have spaces.
  • Pulsing exclamation marks, woo-whee!
  • Updated "What's this?" Account ID/Password text (that better describes what is valid vs. invalid)
  • Updated the Terms Of Use label next to the "Terms of Use" checkbox
  • Pop-up dialog box when the user presses the "Finish button" to clearly tell the user what fields are invalid

Racing: Player Car - Carburetor County Speedway

  • Reduced the overall top speed
  • Adjusted the handling to be less aggressive
  • Reduced the maximum turning rate
  • Lowered the turning rate speed cap

AI Cars - Carburetor County Speedway

  • Added the ability to individually adjust AI per AI car, per track
  • Added the ability to individually adjust physics per AI car, per track
  • Reduced top speed of all the AI cars scaled to Best, Middle and Worst AI
  • Adjusted the physics of all AI cars scaled to Best, Middle and Worst AI

Track Physics -- Both Tracks

  • Reduced the speed penalty for driving in the dirt
  • Reduced the speed penalty for driving along the hard outer collision
  • Reduced the size of all cars

Misc.

  • We've also further optimized the artwork for both tracks so as to reduce the loading times you may be experiencing!
  • Fixed Rank Number display error in the Leaderboards. Now you should no longer show up as 999
  • Added new artwork for the Whistle Tip in the catalog

Now, a quick note about those racing updates; before you start s[pinning your tires, we're just tuning stuff until we can get a difficulty selector put in. You should expect that to come down the pipe in the next few weeks, until then, enjoy some easy racing.
