Yavn Speaketh

Yavn Speaks!

Announcing his royal highness, King Yavn with a proclamation for the Kingdom! Enchanted Tales month is explained, exciting new items are announced and more! All hail his lordship and the latest edition of Yavn Speaketh!

The King's Court

Greetings citizens of Virtual Magic Kingdom! It is a glorious day in VMK! How did everyone enjoy their Halloween? I hope you made out as well as I did. I've got enough gummi bears and chocolate to last a lifetime& or at least until next Halloween!

Pumpkin Hat

A VMK'er becomes a Mickey Pumpkin!

Thanks to all the citizens of the Kingdom that wore VMK Halloween attire and helped make the month so spooktacular – I must admit some of you frightened even me!

At VMK Central, we're hard at work getting more holiday cheer ready for you! And I've got some great news about that, but first, I need to take care of a little business...

Earning Stuff – Honestly!

OK, everybody wants cool stuff right? As you know you can win cool VMK stuff by playing our mini-games. I need to remind you though that you should only play those games (and VMK) with the software provided for download at VMK.com. Using other software to play VMK or generate codes from our system (and trust me, we know when you do it) will get your VMK account banned forever – and nobody wants that.

We've already banned many players for this, if you get banned for this violation, you won't get a second chance.

You see, modifying or changing the way VMK or any of the mini-games work (in any way) is never permitted and against the VMK Values. Though you might not know it, such software can interfere with the game and affects lots of other players too – and can even sometime result in a system crash. This means VMK Staff has to stop creating new, fun things so we can figure out what happened – and that's not good!

Alright, now that I got that out of the way, let's talk about that fantasy-filled month ahead!

Fall Fantasy Reigns

If you haven't guessed, the holidays are right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate this magical time than by reliving some classic enchanted Disney tales with your family and friends! That's why it's "Enchanted Tales" month in VMK! All month long we've got items and special events planned just for you!

For starters, I'm sure you've already checked out those Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora costumes – these fantastic outfits will make sure you look your best when battling fire-breathing dragons or just heading to a royal ball.

Prince Philip and Princess Aurora

Royal clothing fit for a King (or Queen)!

Not only have we introduced these new outfits, but we're also giving you new items to build your Guest or Dark Ride rooms with! Plus more furniture and ride props will be coming to a VMK Shop near you in the week's ahead (be sure to read the Event Info section right here on the Newsletter page for more info and release dates).

Royal Items

November's enchanting items include Royal costumes, clouds, columns, and more!

As part of our celebration of Disney's tales of enchantment, you'll also have the chance to get your very own royal throne, plus other special rewards as part of the "Prince and Princess Ride-A-Thon" that you can only get by participating in the Ride-A-Thon later this month. The Royal Celebration concludes with a special event over the Thanksgiving Holiday – I can't tell you about that just yet but I can tell you the new Disney feature film, Enchanted will be a part of it!

You've probably noticed the holidays have already started in VMK, this is just the start of a fantastic holiday season! I'll have more news in a few weeks about the upcoming events and items you'll see in December – until then keep your eyes on the Event Info section here on the Newsletter!

All the Leaves are Brown&

Okay&Maybe they aren't brown where you are yet, but we can watch them change colors together with this month's "Fab 5 Fall Leaves" pin series! As each pin is released, you will see the leaf in the background change color like on a real tree! The Mickey Pin is the first of the 5 Pin set (check out that snazzy Donald pin!) be sure to collect them all!

Fall Pins

Watch the leaves change color with VMK!

I hope you had a chance to swing by the VMK Gallery and say hello to VMK's very own TikiT during the Grand Opening of his pin art exhibit.

Tiki Gallery

TikiT says hello to some players in the VMK Gallery.

Tiki's an artist for VMK and he makes the awesome pins we all collect. For the rest of the month the VMK Gallery will be showcasing his pin art, so be sure to stop by the Gallery and take a look. If you didn't have a chance to visit with TikiT don't worry, we'll have many more events like this in the future, so stay tuned!

King Yavn's Mailbag

I've been getting email from players asking about the VMK Trading Card Game: Advanced. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it. We're making sure that it is everything we promised it would be before releasing it. So keep watching the Newsletter for updates on when it will be available. Don't worry&it will be here soon!

Many of you have also written in about some of the problems you've seen with game features, billboards and loading screens. The new functionality in the game has caused a few problems we're still working out - so please be patient. We should have those bugs squashed very shortly.

In the meantime, I hope you guys like all the new stuff – we've got lots more great events and items on the way!

To the Castle!

Alright, that's it for my Royal Proclamation. Perhaps I'll hop in my royal carriage and visit Disneyland this weekend! All this talk of fantasy and enchantment has made me hungry for a churro from the Fantasyland churro cart! And since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, maybe I'll have a turkey leg too!

See you in VMK!

Scam Alert

Earn Stuff Honestly

Using ANY hacking, scripting or editing program that modifies VMK, changes the game or generates codes from our mini-games is against VMK Values and will result in a permanent ban of your VMK account. This is a serious violation of the VMK Values.

If you are found to be involved in this type of activity, we will place a ban on your account (and computer) that will keep you and anyone in your family from playing the game – forever.

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS !

You're not just hurting yourself – but your actions will affect other players on the same computer. What should you do to make sure you're not banned? Don't use ANY programs that generate codes and don't use any codes that you haven't earned yourself by playing our games.

Scamming = Theft!

Scamming is equal to theft and a violation of the VMK Values. If you scam someone in VMK, this will lead to your account being automatically and permanently banned. Having your parents send in a request using Contact Us to get your account re-activated won't work, because if you can't play by the rules and follow the VMK Values, we don't want you in the game.

Don't let yourself get scammed. As the old saying goes, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don't "loan" your stuff and if a room owner refuses to show you their "Cute or Boot" prize or rare item, or you feel they don't really have the prize, leave the room. There are lots of other games to play and things to do in VMK!

Staff Impersonation is NEVER allowed!

Impersonating VMK Staff is never allowed in VMK. If a player says they are VMK Staff, make sure they're wearing the orange Mickey Pin and wearing either red (for Staff or HOST) or blue (for QA) Mickey ears.

Remember, VMK Staff will never ask you to trade any items.

Staff Outfits

You can always spot STAFF and HOSTS because they wear red Mickey ears.

Cast Member Badge

VMK Staff will always wear the orange Mickey Pin.

Community Leader Badge

You can identify a Community Leader by the 'CL_' at the beginning of their name and their blue wizard hat pin.

Beware of "Free Rooms".

Some VMK players advertise their rooms as "free," but when you enter them, they force you to pay (credits or items) or get booted from the room. Beware, these types of rooms are against the VMK Values and report players who engage in this kind of activity.

Got more questions about scamming? Read the FAQs page!

Safety Corner

VMK Safety & Security

Remember to review the VMK Values and game guidelines. New rules include that Pay to Play rooms are no longer allowed. As always, violence or inappropriate subject matter of adult nature will NOT be tolerated and involvement in this activity will result in a ban of your VMK account.

VMK is NO place for negative behavior. Have fun, make friends, play games and chat, but please keep in mind VMK must always be a safe and appropriate place for Players of ALL ages.

Please help keep VMK just like the Disney Theme Parks - a safe, fun and magical place for everyone!

Respect other players. Scams (theft), violence, giving out personal information or discussing adult content (sexual or otherwise), vulgarity or inappropiate behavior have NO place in VMK.

Help Is Always Available

The VMK 'Call For Help' button is easy to use and always accessible – just click on the HELP button on the lower right of the VMK player window. At VMK we encourage you to let us know if anything unsafe or suspicious catches your attention. If it's not in line with VMK Values, please report it immediately!

Call For Help

Tip: Remember the 'Call For Help' is like VMK's 911. So while we encourage you to use it, please only do so for serious player issues. And like 911, using 'Call For Help' to report false information will get you in trouble too, so make sure you're reporting the incident or player accurately.

If you do have a serious problem, tell us immediately! The faster you use the 'Call For Help' button to make us aware of a problem, the more effective we can be in taking care of the issue. So please, tell us immediately if you have a serious problem and help make VMK a fun and safe place for everyone.

Don't Dictionary Dance

The VMK Dictionary is in place for a reason. If you "dance" around the dictionary to say something you shouldn't, you could get banned.

Bad words have no place in VMK and neither do words that sound or read like bad words (but are spelled differently). The VMK Dictionary will never allow players to use bad words. "Dancing" around the VMK Dictionary to use bad words (or words that aren't in the dictionary) in chat could get you banned.

Since this is the first time I did the newsletter, I'm not sure if I have the formatting right. If any editor would like to fix this, thanks. :) --Scootz 08:52, 10 November 2007 (CST) (Talk | contribs

Way back when we first started adding the newsletter here sections used to be updated consistently on Mondays. For this reason all of our Newsletter dates reflect Mondays and the changes that were made. Now with inconsistent updating of many of the sections with changes occuring randomly during the week, having the newsletter remain with Mondays date allows for us to consistently represent a weeks worth of newsletter without constantly adding new dates. When I update the newsletter I mentally divde my week and make a note of the changes that have occured. It's usually easy to tell the "Top Players" of the week even if they are not announced on Monday and so I include these under the appropriate week. Other sections I take into consideration previous changes and which "week" the changes best represent. In order to keep the newsletter body consistent from week to week, I usually copy over the previous weeks newsletter and update with any changes. In some cases where clarification is necessary, I have sometimes added a "note" of when the actual section was updated (ie Added 11 November 2007 or the likes). Thank you for taking the time to add the information from the current newsletter. Often I cannot add the information as promptly as I would like to and the help is always appreciated. Just wanted to give you a few things to keep in mind if you decide to continue helping keep this section updated.

If you have questions regarding formatitting, the best thing to do is to look at the newsletters that have come before. Also, in sections such as the Scam Alert or Safety Corner, information and images are often repeated so looking through past newsletters can be helpful. If you notice from past newsletters the time was actually taken for some of the sections to obtain the actually title image for the sections (the yellow lettered titles). This is a rather time consuming undertaking and has not been done for the more recent sections although it would be nice if someone would be willing to make more of these. Also for sections that are no longer pertinent like past months "theme section" such as Nemo 101, a link to a newsletter from that month is usually sufficient. I know at one time talk of making a Newsletter Skeleton was brought up, however the problem with this is the newsletter is both dynamic and predictable. For this reason I find it easiest to use the previous week's newsletter as a template. --UpInTheAir 02:44, 11 November 2007 (CST)
