Jungle Cruise Photo Safari Game

Jungle Cruise Photo Safari Game
What is the Jungle Cruise? The Jungle Cruise Photo Safari Game is a game where your character is in a boat you must navigate through the treacherous waters, while at the same time taking pictures of the native wildlife. Skipper your boat through a remote forest, looking for new critters, as they pop in and out of view. Be quick with your camera to get the 'perfect shot' before they disappear. And keep an eye on your Gas - your cruise is over as soon as you run out.
Where do I play it?
To play the Jungle Cruise game, go to Adventureland. The room is called the Jungle Cruise Photo Safari Lobby. Click the sign that says "Click to Play!" that is on the dock inside the room.

How do I play it?
The controls to steer the boat through the water are the arrow keys.Press the up arrow to gain speed, the down arrow to go back, the left arrow to go left and the right arrow to go right. Because of the angle at which you're seeing and the boat is pointed, when you first play, it might be a little confusing as to which arrow you press to go left, and which to press to go right. Since you don't want to hit any rocks (which make you use gas), it would be useful to gently tap the left and right arrow key while the waters are clear to become familiar with which way it will help you move.
There are rocks in the water, which upon collision, will use up gas. You'll want to avoid these, and shores, by using the arrow keys to steer. To keep playing the game, you'll need gas and film. While playing the game, you'll see one gas icon and one film icon per room. Make sure you collect these, because if you don't you'll find out pretty soon you won't make it far in the game. To collect them, you will just steer your boat right over them, and it will automatically reward you with extra gas and film. To take pictures of the animals, you use the mouse to move your camera around the screen. Click the left mouse button to take a picture. It will award you an amount of points according to how fast you took it, and how much of the animal was in the picture.
Instructions
- Photograph as many Critters as you can before you run out of gas or complete the maximum of 3 cruises. Move your camera target over a Critter until it's centered in the shot and your target turns red. Then click your mouse button to take a photo - the better your aim, the more points you get!
Film and Gas
- You can see a counter of how much Film and Gas you have left in the top right of the screen. You need Film to take photos and Gas to power your boat. You can collect Film and Gas top-ups by running over the Film Canisters and Gas Tanks in the river.
Hazards
- Be a careful skipper and watch what you run over with your boat...Keep away from the river shore and rocks, and make sure you snap any Critters that get in your way. If your boat hits something it shouldn't, it'll be damaged and you'll lose valuable Gas.
Rewards
The first time you play it, you are rewarded with a Jungle Cruise Toucan Poster and 50 credits. After that, you get 20 credits every time you play it. If you make it on the High Score List, you will get 750 credits, and a link to a PDF file that gives you an Explorer's Tent Guest Room when you bring it to either Walt Disney World or Disney Land Resort. It also has a code for a two week subscription to ToonTown.
Are there any strategies for improving my score/playing time?
One of the strategies for improving playing time is to not press the Up arrow key to make your boat go faster. This uses more gas, and actually lowers your score by making you exit the room before all animals have had their picture taken. Pressing the Up arrow key increases gas consumption rate. Avoiding this will keep you in the game longer. Another strategy is to use the down arrow key to stay at the entrance to the room while you take pictures, then when the animals stop appearing, navigate your way through the rocks. If you can multi-task and navigate while at the same time taking pictures, this is not necessary, and by not doing this it will save gas. One theory introduced is that in some rooms, more animals will appear after the initial wave of them has disappeared. This only happens in some rooms, and it seems to change which rooms it happens in. Try waiting in the room for a bit (by pressing the back arrow key a few times) to see if any other animals do appear. If they do, keep backing up while you take pictures of these extra animals.
Are there any methods to gain rewards more easily?
You get 20 credits for playing no matter what your score is. One method people use to get the 20 credits without actually playing the game is to go "Nedding." This means once they are in the boat, they back up, and hit rocks, the shore, everything there is in the first room. When you hit an obstacle it makes you lose gas. When you have no more gas, the game is over. So they lose the game without having to really play it, and receive 20 credits. Some people only play Jungle Cruise for the reward that comes with getting a high score, a guest room that is considered rare. To achieve this high score, many of them play when VMK first opens, in hopes of getting a score just as they reset the high scores. That will put them on the list just long enough to receive a prize before the better players kick them off of the list.
