• If you are making a new item page, here is a rough guide how:
    • Each item will get their own page, named after the item and (if appropriate) its color. For example, Candy Cauldron and Aladdin's Flying Carpet Chair Blue. Create this page by linking to it from anywhere - use the VMKWiki Sandbox if you can't think of another place.
    • Use the template below for most furniture items, adding the correct information and adding any other categories that may be necessary (for example :Category:Beta Checklist).
    • To include the page you just created in a list (ie - not link to it, but include its contents), use a format like this: . Note the :, it is important.
    • Don't forget to add a price and image if you have them. If you don't have an image, use the ImageNotAvailable tag to mark it - this will make it look better and easier to find later.
    • As always - preview things. But remember that you have to save the item's page before you can include it in another page.

Furniture Template

<noinclude>
itemTableHeader
</noinclude>
|-
|
|
|
|
|
|
<noinclude>
itemTableFooter

</noinclude>

The page, when empty, will look something like

ItemColorCostPhotoLocationNotes
Categories: Furniture Checklist

Pin Template

Note that this is the same as the Furniture Template except it has the "Pin Category" instead.
<noinclude>
itemTableHeader
</noinclude>
|-
|
|
|
|
|
|
<noinclude>
itemTableFooter

</noinclude>

The page, when empty, will look something like

ItemColorCostPhotoLocationNotes
Categories: Pin Checklist

If the pin is a magic pin show this using:

PROTECTED2
Output is:
Magic Pin

Clothing/Costumes/Hats Template

Note that this is the same as the Furniture Template except it has the "Clothing Category" instead.
<noinclude>
itemTableHeader
</noinclude>
|-
|
|
|
|
|
|
<noinclude>
itemTableFooter

</noinclude>

The page, when empty, will look something like

ItemColorCostPhotoLocationNotes
Categories: Clothing Checklist

Room Map Template

When creating a new map of a room, use the following template.

<noinclude>
__FORCETOC__

Summary
itemTableHeader
</noinclude>
|-
|
|
|
|
|
|
<noinclude>
itemTableFooter

Room Map
; Key:
: # - regular space ()
: x - exit space ()

</noinclude>

Additionally, we have some utility templates.

room shop currently just prints "room shop", but will eventually be changed to provide a link to information about how to shop for rooms. is used to provide room size information. Currently, just the first parameter (the overall size) is used, but include the rest of the information for completeness. the "r" parameter is for "regular squares" (what we usually represent with a #).

Credit Rewards Template

To include credit rewards in a table of other items, you can use the price template. For example, including 10 generates this table entry:

ItemColorCostPhotoLocationNotes
10 CreditsVMK Credits
For more information see Credit

You may also include an optional note.

Price Template

Pricing items is very simple now using the following templates. "num" is the number of credits (for example 1000).
PROTECTED7
PROTECTED8
PROTECTED9
PROTECTED10
PROTECTED11 (to indicate how much an item sells for)
Output is:
Dnum
S/Dnum
X/Dnum
Q
salePrice

Additionally we have a way to indicate that an item is non-tradeable:

PROTECTED12
Output is:
non-tradeable

Released/Re-Released/Retired Templates

As items are release, retired and re-released it is important to make note of those dates (see date format below). These templates are for the status, you would then add the date. There is another to indicate the item was released as part of a yard sale or another limited event, so no specific date was recorded. There is also a tag to indicate the item was released during Beta and then removed.
PROTECTED13
PROTECTED14
PROTECTED15
PROTECTED16
PROTECTED17
Output is:
Released:
Re-released:
Retired:
Beta
Limited re-release through Host Yard Sale
Once you have created the individual furniture pages they need to be combined to make one table. Make sure to put the item templates between the following table templates:
PROTECTED18

PROTECTED19

Date Format

Dates of items should be in the day/month/year format with the full name of the month spelled out. Example:
10 October 2006

Spoiler Format

This spoiler format features mouse hover to display "Correct Answer" or "Incorrect Answer" or to show a correct answer (as in the case with fill in the blanks) and is used in the In-Park quests spoiler area.
PROTECTED20
PROTECTED21
PROTECTED22

Output is:

  • Correct answer here
  • Incorrect answer here
Displayed text here

Note: for the Incorrect and Correct Answer templates, the bullet is currently included in the template

In a fill in the blank format:
ex:

VMK stands for __________________.
Use:
VMK stands for __________________.
and get:
VMK stands for __________________.

Discussion community comments archived from Talk:Editing

We have been having problems with sections of the VMK portion somehow being deleted when we edit the Club Penguin section. Because of this, I've moved the VMK one to its own page, and provided the link here. I suggest the Club Penguin people do the same. --Prisoner 13:43, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

I have noticed this. Editing the CP section without a problem requires editing the whole page. Should the VMK Section on Help:Editing be deleted? --Scootz 13:46, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for removing it, I hope you're not made I messed it up.. Also, should we remove the VMK section completly from Help:Editing? --Xiaolin 14:09, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Timestamps

Would it be useful to ask editors to use tildes (~) to automatically include User and timestamps against their comments? ie 3 ~ will give User name; 4 ~ will give User name and time & date. I'm lazy and hate having to hit History to see how old a comment is. Pudgey 05:42, 26 May 2008 (PDT)

For the most part the users have been doing this, sometimes it goes forgotten but I've noticed everyone has been pretty good about it as of late. In the toolbar of the editing box there is the "Your Signature with Timestamp" button that easily adds the appropriate signature. This is actually stated in the Rules and Guidelines, but I'll go back and make it a little more prominent/specific.--UpInTheAir 15:12, 26 May 2008 (PDT)
