1940: Fantasia is released! The first major movie released in the United States with sterophonic sound, Fantasia set a new standard for the cinematic experience.

Fantasia

Chernabog's, magical brooms and dinosaurs – oh my!

It was not only the first feature film to be shown in multichannel sound, it was the first Disney animated film in which Walt Disney allowed his artist to use whatever colors they wanted. In addition to such classics as "Night on Bald Mountain" and "Rite of Spring" Fantasia also features a more modern looking Mickey Mouse in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
