Click this button to open or put away your compass.

Your Compass is your constant guide and sentry. Not only will it orient you to the four quarters of the map -- the small bronze "N" always points North -- it will reveal the proximity of friends and foes. NPCs (Non-Player Characters) appear in blue, foes in red, other players are in green. You can widen or narrow the scale of the area the Compass shows by clicking on the + or - buttons. If you are in a cave or jungle, white rectangles indicate where the nearest exit lies.

A vital feature of the Compass is the large yellow arrow that appears when you pursue a Quest. This yellow triangle always points in the direction of your Quest objective.

Game Tip Game Tip: If you're not sure where to find the person or place you need for a Quest, search the skies for a ray of light. It will guide you to your next destination.

The compass is used for many things. You can see, NPCs (Non-Playable Characters), enemies, and other pirates, that are in the range of the compass. Also, it can tell you the direction of the quest you are currently looking for.

How To Get It

To get the compass, you must go visit Tia Dalma, in a cavern in Port Royal. Once you go to her, she gives you instructions on how to use it.

How To Get To It

To get to the compass, you can do one of two things:

  1. You can click the tab button, and click the compass button, Compassicon.jpg.
  2. You can click the C button on your keyboard. This is the easiest way.

There are a few different colored symbols that show you different, but useful, things in the area around you.

POTCO Bullet If you see green circles around you, they are NPC (Non-Playable Characters).
POTCO Bullet If you see red circles around you, they are enemies.
POTCO Bullet If you see blue circles around you, they are other pirates.
POTCO Bullet If you see pink circles around you, they are crewmates.
POTCO Bullet If you see a yellow arrow pointing in some direction, that shows you the way to go to get to your quest that you are currently working on it.
POTCO Bullet You will see the letter "N" that means North.

A little after the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean Online, the compass changed. The change was it now has a gold star, locating where the quest you're tracking is (The yellow arrow is still in the current one).
