New Feature: Igloo update!
By BillyBob on June 27, 2008 11:18 PMHello Penguins!
I know it's been a little while since I've shared updates about the Club Penguin Improvement Project, but that doesn't mean the work has slowed down.
Since my last post, the team has been working hard on squashing bugs and making changes based on all of your comments--I'll fill you in on those details next week. In the process they decided to make an entirely NEW feature that we hadn't planned on! I'm really excited to be sharing it with you because it's something many of you have suggested in the past. And we all thought it made a lot of sense.
We've made a few changes to make your igloos look better than ever! Check this out:
As always, let us know what you think!
Until then...waddle on!

New feature update
By BillyBob on June 12, 2008 1:08 AMHello Penguins!
Thanks for all your feedback on the player card redesign and Penguin Mail so far--the team is working hard to add in what they can from your suggestions. Great work!
We are still hoping to release these features at the end of June and will keep you up to date as we continue building these features.
This week, the team has been very busy squashing and fixing bugs!
I'll have more info next week after more testing is done.
Until then...waddle on!

Player Card update
By BillyBob on June 4, 2008 9:15 PMHello Penguins!
Great feedback on Penguin Mail!
Here's the new design for the player card. The idea is to make it easier and faster for you to find the item you want.
The red X on the bottom right is a 'clear all' button. So when you want to remove all the items on your penguin you can just click that button instead of removing them one by one.
I also just found out that the team is working on a similar update for the furniture inventory!
Let us know what you think and what you'd change.
I'll have more about the login feature later this week.
Until then...waddle on!

Penguin Mail Update
By BillyBob on May 26, 2008 9:01 PMHello Penguins!
I hope all of you who received the CPIP Server Test thank you item are enjoying it! There's been a lot of talk recently about the release of the new features and I want to give you an update on all of them, but to make it easier, we're going to focus on one per post.
First--and the feature I'm most excited about--is Penguin Mail. A couple of weeks ago I talked briefly about an update to the postcard system. If you missed that post, you can check it out in the archives of this blog. PM_Stamp_BW.jpg
The team has been working really hard on this feature.
Here's the logo they're playing with.
It will also be way easier because you'll be able to send buddies a postcard even if they are not logged in, and you'll also be able to delete and SAVE your mail.
As always, we would love to know what you think. So keep up the feedback--it helps a lot!
I'll have more info on Penguin Mail, the new player card and login next week.
Until then...waddle on!

Thank You Item for Server Test helpers!
By BillyBob on May 26, 2008 1:53 AMHello Penguins!
Many of you have been waiting VERY patiently for the thank you item for helping with Server Test in March and I wanted to be the first to let you know it will be added to your inventory on May 30! I don't want to ruin the surprise about what it is so you'll have to login on Friday to find out.
This item is only for those who helped with the Server Test event in March. If you logged in to help test you will receive the item. We wanted to deliver the item through Penguin Mail, but this feature along with the new login and player card won't be ready for the end of May like we had originally hoped. The team has run into a few really big bugs that will take some time to sort out. They hope to have the new features ready to launch later in June.
In the meantime, we'll be posting some updates on the new features--they may still have a lot of bugs to squash but they've done a lot of great work that we could definitely use your feedback on.
Check back in the next few days for an update on Penguin Mail!
Until then...waddle on!

New Feature update: new login and server selection!
By BillyBob on May 19, 2008 8:09 PMHello Penguins!
Meeting up with buddies in Club Penguin is really important--I know because it's something a lot of you say is difficult right now. In fact, it has been on of the top things suggested for improvement from many players! Your feedback on this issue has been a huge help. The team knew right away that one of the first improvements they wanted to work on was to make it easier to find your buddies when logging into Club Penguin.
Some of you had great ideas about making the login function better--a popular one was grouping worlds based on those you visit most often!
That's part of what the team is working on right now. They are totally rebuilding the way you login to Club Penguin! The new login feature will make it a lot easier to locate your friends online--and the worlds will be grouped in a way that will help you stick with the buddies you play with most often.
The feature is still being worked on and as always, any suggestions or ideas you have will help make Club Penguin even better! So let us know what you think!
Until then...waddle on!

New feature update: Penguin Mail!
By BillyBob on May 13, 2008 8:22 PMHello Penguins!
Wow! Thanks for all your great feedback on the feature updates we've shared so far. It's totally helpful!
Because of all your help, you are going to be the first to hear about one of my favorite new features the team is working on! I'm really excited about it and could hardly wait to let you know about it!
Over and over again, we've heard great ideas from you about improving postcards and now that the new servers are up and running we can add some of them.
The feature is called 'Penguin Mail' and it will be launched in the next few weeks along with the other features. It will be the first of a few big updates to the current postcard system in Club Penguin.
The coolest thing you'll be able to do as soon as it is launched is SAVE all the post cards you've received and you'll finally be able to send post cards to buddies even when they're not online!
I'll have more details on Penguin Mail as it gets closer to release. As always, let us know what else you'd like to see and what you think of things so far!
Until then...waddle on!

New Feature update: Player Card
By BillyBob on May 5, 2008 11:16 AMHello Penguins!
A lot of you have mentioned that it's really hard to find the item you're looking for in your inventory and it can take a long time. It can get confusing too, especially for those of you with a lot of items!
I wanted to let you know that the player card inventory is being improved at this very moment! When the new features launch at the end of May, all of your clothing and accessories will be better organized and really easy to find. The team has been working really hard on a new design for the inventory--a lot of you have suggested grouping items and making separate tabs for them and I think you'll be happy with how it turns out!
As always let us know what you think! I'll have more info next week on the next feature!
Until then...waddle on!

'Big Screen' launched
By BillyBob on April 28, 2008 8:05 PMHello Penguins!
The 'Big Screen' feature launched today! We're excited about it and you don't have to do anything different than what you usually do when you login to Club Penguin to view the game in 'Big Screen' mode. Just make sure your browser window is expanded as big as possible.
Check it out and as always let us know what you think!
Until then...waddle on!

New Features Coming Soon!
By BillyBob on April 21, 2008 3:12 PMHello Penguins!
March and April have sure been exciting months on CPIP, but I think May will be just as exciting because that's when the launch of some NEW features for Club Penguin is planned!
Launching the new servers last week definitely kicked things off in the right direction--they're stronger than old servers which means we can push them a lot harder and do some new things that wouldn't have been possible before!
Most of the new features will be launched in May, but I just found out that one will be launched early next week! It's definitely something a lot of you have been suggesting for a long time and something that we wanted to make sure we did properly.
On Tuesday, April 29 everyone will be able to play Club Penguin in "Big Screen"! When you login to Club Penguin after April 29, you can change the size of Club Penguin by adjusting your browser window size!
As always, we look forward to hearing what you think about it!
Until then...waddle on!

Server launch update
By BillyBob on April 15, 2008 8:59 PMHello Penguins!
I just wanted to let you know how things are going since the new servers launched yesterday! A few major bugs were found yesterday, and most of them have been taken care of. A lot of you let us know right away about the bugs you found, so thanks!
The launch was really exciting and the team said the new servers were pushed harder than ever yesterday which is great! Your help definitely made the launch a success! The team is still squashing some bugs and making sure things are running smoothly.
As always, let us know about any bugs you find!
Until then...waddle on!

New website and new servers
By BillyBob on April 14, 2008 8:22 PM
Hello Penguins!
Can you believe it!? The first part of CPIP is complete! The new servers launched and the new website is up for everyone to check out! Thanks to all of you for all your help throughout the Server Test! The team will still be squashing some bugs and fixing up a few things here and there so if you notice any bugs this week, let us know. Some of you are probably wondering when you'll get the 'reward' for helping with Server Test. Don't worry, it hasn't been forgotten about but it can't be delivered quite yet! We need one of the new features to make it happen. I'll have more info about it next week! Thanks to all your great feedback on the website over the past couple weeks, the team was able to finish in time for launch. A lot of you had some great ideas that couldn't be made in time for this launch but updates are made regularly to the website so we'll hopefully add them soon. As soon as you've had a chance to check out the new site, be sure to let us know what you like and even what could be better! Until then...waddle on! -The Club Penguin Team

New servers to launch April 14
By BillyBob on April 9, 2008 9:25 AMHello Penguins!
Many of you who are helping with CPIP already know this, so this is more of a reminder. Club Penguin will be down for part of the day on April 14 between 12 am (midnight) and 3 pm while the new servers are being launched.
During this time you won't be able to access this site. But when the new servers are launched you will! And we can't wait to hear your thoughts about the new site!
Until then...waddle on!

Another website sneak peek!
By BillyBob on April 9, 2008 9:04 AM
Hello Penguins!
Thank you for all your great feedback on the website design so far. It has been very helpful--keep it coming! This picture shows another page from the new site. It's next to the same page from the old site so you can see the differences.
A lot of you have asked about secrets on the new home page. There are definitely some fun things planned for the site and there will be even more we can add in the future.
Keep the comments coming. They are totally helpful!

Server Test Success!!
By BillyBob on April 4, 2008 7:02 AMHello Penguins!
After almost a month of testing, Server Test is complete! The test site has been shut down so that the team can get ready for the next big step: launching the new servers on clubpenguin.com! That's what they will be doing over the next week and a bit. So if you or your friends go to test.clubpenguin.com and can't login, that's because the testing is over.
Thank you to everyone for all the hard work and excellent help throughout the test. It was a lot of fun! We didn't announce this before because we wanted people to test for the right reasons, but we're planning on giving everyone who participated a special gift as a way to say "thank you" for helping!
The only problem is that you will have to wait a little while for it. We're planning on using one of the "new features" to deliver it!
Until then...waddle on!

Website Sneak Peek
By BillyBob on April 3, 2008 8:17 AMHello Penguins!
The next phase of CPIP is underway (the website redesign) and many of you have already provided tons of helpful feedback about the updated logo that will be featured on the new website.
The redesigned site will go live at www.clubpenguin.com on April 14th.
To find out more about the website redesign, check out the link on the CPIP homepage. There is a snapshot of a new section and we'd love to hear what you think about it and of course any suggestions you may have.
We'll have more info on a couple other important points next week.

Server Test Almost Over
By BillyBob on April 2, 2008 2:26 PMHello Penguins!
The CPIP server test has been going really well over the past couple weeks. The team has squashed a lot of bugs, thanks to all the reports you've sent in.
When the test is over on April 4, your test accounts will be deleted, and the team will start preparing to go live with the new servers. Club Penguin will be completely transferred over to the new servers on April 14, but don't worry, your normal Club Penguin account will be transferred as well.

Cleaning up the Logo
By BillyBob on April 1, 2008 7:31 AMHello Penguins!
First of all, the testing this weekend was a huge success! We pushed the new servers hard, but they are working better than ever because of it. So thanks again to everyone who helped with that! We're glad you enjoyed being puffles!
We're getting ready to start talking about the new website, but I wanted to get your input on something before we do.
Working with Disney has been really cool and they have been totally supportive of Club Penguin and what we believe in. This is why we want them to be a part of our logo, but we've heard from many of you that the current version is a bit ugly and cluttered with all the text so we're trying to clean it up.

We've decided to extend it for the rest of the weekend so you and you're friends can enjoy it for a little longer! The special event will be up on Server Test until Monday!
Thanks also for all your great help with testing even during the special event! It is a huge help!

Special CPIP Event
By BillyBob on March 27, 2008 1:49 PMHello Penguins!
As many of you know, April Fools is coming up and in fact, our April Fools Party starts today in Club Penguin. I wanted to let you know about a special April Fools surprise we will be launching ONLY on Server Test today. I won't ruin the surprise by telling you what it is right now, but I will tell you we've never done ANYTHING like it in Club Penguin before. Here's a hint: when you login you'll see Club Penguin through different eyes.
This special CPIP April Fools event will only be around today. If you want to check it out here's what you need to know:
- Where: ONLY on Server Test
- When: Friday 10 am - 4 pm Penguin Standard Time (PST)
- Who: You and all your friends are invited!
- What: Show up to find out
We will still be testing while the 'surprise' is launched, so remember to report any bugs if you find them. As always, let us know what you think about it.

CPIP Wallpaper!!
By BillyBob on March 20, 2008 12:35 PM
Hello Penguins!
It has been a busy week for all of us testing the new servers. We're still fixing bugs and working hard to make sure these servers will make Club Penguin better and stronger.
Keep up the great work! We hope you'll continue to help us out over the weekend.
The team here had some fun illustrating a team of penguins hard at work on the server test. We thought it would make a great wallpaper. Click the link below to download the image. Let us know how you like it and if you have any other great ideas for wallpapers let us know. Maybe we'll make another one!

Crazy Party!!!!
By BillyBob on March 14, 2008 3:58 PMHello Penguins!
A great big thank you to everyone for coming to the "Tester Party" today. We all had a lot of fun hanging out with you guys!
The server was so full that we got it to crash a few times which is what we were hoping for! I also had some trouble logging into rooms at times. We learned a lot from this and we are going to use it to keep working on those bugs.
Thanks again!
Until then...Waddle On!

Tester Party (with mods!)
By BillyBob on March 13, 2008 2:54 PMHello Penguins!
Im my last post, I talked about how we need to get more people testing at the same time so we can push the servers to their limit. So we decided to do something about it. This Friday afternoon at 4:15pm (penguin time), RSnail, Screenhog and myself are all going to be hanging out on Test Server 1. Invite your friends to come hang out together so we can push the server to the max!
We may do some fun things like all jump back and forth between the two test servers at the same time to really push it but we'll let you know at the party.
Let your friends know too!
FRIDAY at 4:15 PST (penguin time)
Test Server 1
with Billybob, Rsnail, and Screenhog
It'll be tons of fun but we can't do it without your help! I hope to see all of you there!

More Testers
By BillyBob on March 13, 2008 10:23 AMHello Penguins!
The tests continue to go well and the bugs keep getting squashed which is great. A big "thank you" to everyone so far!
We're now needing to "stress test" the servers by trying to fill them up with as many penguins as possible. It would be awesome if we could find more people to join in tests so we can do this!
If you have a blog or a forum that you can get the word out, that would be awesome. Your help has been great and we couldn't do it without you!!
Also: On Friday, we will be uploading the St. Patricks Day Party to the test servers as well!
Until then... Waddle On!

Rare Items??
By BillyBob on March 11, 2008 1:58 PMHello Penguins,
Another day has come and gone in the server test and today we ran across one of the bigger bugs that allowed some people to get rare items they didn't really own.
This caused a lot of confusion and it should be fixed now. Just so you know, the only "staff" that log into this test server on a regular basis are myself (billybob), rsnail, gizmo, and screenhog. Other staff may log in from time to time for testing reasons, but they will never announce themselves as staff.
If you see anyone still wearing one of these items, please report them as they will be banned.
We're sorry for any confusion this caused and its why we need everyones help in testing. Thank you to those penguins who were reporting this bug and if more weird things happen, please continue to let us know!
Until then... Waddle On!

Account Questions
By BillyBob on March 10, 2008 3:57 PMHello Penguins,
There have been a lot of questions and concerns about your Club Penguin account being deleted. Don't worry, when you sign up to help with the test, we create a "clone" of your penguin just for the test. When the test is done, that clone is deleted, but your original penguin is not. If you happen to be a member and sign up for the test, your "clone" will have membership features just like your normal penguin.
The point is that whatever you do with your clone penguin in the test won't be saved. The clone will be deleted in April.
Hopefully that makes more sense. Thanks for helping with the test!
Until then... Waddle On!

Welcome!!
By BillyBob on March 10, 2008 1:23 PM
Hello Penguins!
Welcome to the headquarters for the Club Penguin Improvement Project. We call it CPIP for short. Most of you are probably wondering what it’s all about. It’s pretty simple.
We wanted you to be the first to know and get involved in the project, so we built a website so we can all be in the loop on how it's going!
You could say CPIP is a bit like Spring cleaning--but way more fun! We've been listening to all your ideas about how to make Club Penguin better and we decided to do something about it. Over the next 3 months we will be doing some 'construction' on some important parts of Club Penguin. Some of it you will be able to see, some of it will be behind the scenes, but all of it will make Club Penguin better!
To get started, we need your help to test some new servers! Check out the Server Test link on the homepage to join in!
We will update this blog at least once a week so be sure to check back for updates and more info.
Let us know what you think and how it's going!
Until then... Waddle On!
