VMK Trading Card Game — Disneys Online Worlds

In the 6 August 2007 Newsletter, Yavn described this game as a mix between the card games Trumps and War. It's an awesome game that's a lot of fun. [...] [T]here are some NEW items we created to go along with the VMK Trading Card Game.

How to Play

The game is available at http://vmk.com/tradingcardgame.

Objective

The object of the game is to earn ten (10) points before your opponent does. You get one (1) point every time you win a turn. If you can guess what your opponent will do next you will win the turn.

Trading Cards Value

Each VMK Trading card has four Powers (Community, Lucky, Magic, and Treasure) and the strength of each Power is represented by a number from one to ten (1-10).

Starting the Game

As the round begins, two cards are dealt face up, one to you, one to your opponent. As soon as the cards are dealt you have 30 seconds to make your move. Try to guess which Power your opponent will choose and then select a Power by clicking on it. Select a power that you think will defeat your opponent's power (see example 2 below). Once you have both picked a Power the game will reveal who has won the point.

Winning a Hand

If you and your opponent both picked the same Power (you both pick luck for example) the player with the highest number in that power wins.
If you and your opponent pick powers in opposite corners (Magic and Community for example) the player with the highest number in the Power they choose wins.
If you and your opponent pick powers next to each other the Power to the left (counter-clockwise) always trumps (or beats) the Power to the right (clockwise)

Community (Blue) beats Luck (Orange)
Luck (Orange) beats Magic (Pink)
Magic (Pink) beats Treasure (Green)
Treasure (Green) beats Community (Blue)

Prizes

In the basic version of the game - no prizes are awarded.

The Trophy Room indicates The next version of VMK Trading Card Game Online will include special cards and characters that can be earned by playing and winning. Your rewards will be displayed in your Trophy room, and you'll even be able to add the new cards you win to your own personalized deck

The game FAQ says In the full version you'll be able to accumulate points, play against other people, and unlock cool prizes (plus much more)!

Promotion?

Would you add this as a mini-game or a promotion? Yavn said it was a mini-game.. but mini-games are usually linked to the game, and promotions are outside of the game. Which category should I put it in? --Xiaolin 07:55, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

I think it will depend on how they link it from the VMK Homepage, which we don't know yet. But I would lean towards "promotion". --Prisoner 08:25, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Formatting for Powers

Maybe we could have a table like this:

I was wondering if we should make a template for it, and have each card on the template. Then use the table you outline above. But also be able to add other features if warranted. Perhaps something like:

{{tradingCardGame|series=|name=|image=|luck=|magic=|treasure=|community=|rarity=}}

This can also let us sort the info various ways in the future if it makes sense, and link to its prize, if it ever has a prize or anything. Plus we won't have to duplicate the info between the image table and the reward table.
