Basic information

Booting is a useful tool in VMK. When in your own room, if a player is being rude to you or other players or you need them out of the room for some reason, this option works best. Click a player, and if you are the owner of the room, you'll see the option "Boot" lit up in the lower left hand corner of the players profile.

A player booted from a room will get the following message. They will not be allowed to enter the room for five minutes.

The use of booting in scams

More often than not, "Free stuff" rooms are fake. Once a player is first in line, the owner will open a trade window. Right before giving the item they will then close out the trade window and boot the player from the room. If this happens, report the room as soon as you can. In the past, it was against the rules to boot people out of rooms after they had "paid" the owner to play a game, enter a room, play a quest, etc. If someone asked a player to pay one or more items, it was usually best to just leave the room as it could be a scam. However to prevent such scams, VMK decided to make "pay for play" against its values on 25 June 2007.
