Trade Window
Item Tabs
These tabs correspond to the tabs found in the Inventory Window: Furnishing, Pins, Clothing, and Posters. Clicking on these tabs will change the type of inventory item displayed to the trader. Traders can browse through their inventory using these tabs to find the item they are wanting to trade. Items are show in the item boxes and up to 14 are displayed at a time. All items in your inventory can be viewed by scrolling through the item boxes.
Accept Button
In order to accept a trade, a player must click the little blue box next to "You accept". A small X should appear in the box to indicate you are accepting the proposed trade. You will be asked if you're sure you want to go through with the trade. At this time you are given the opportunity to review the trade and decline if you need to. Once both players have accepted, and confirmed the trade, the items will be traded.
Stop Trading
This button allows you to exit out of the trade window and end the trade at anytime.
Putting up items
To put items from your item boxes and into the trade area, click objects you are interested in trading. To remove items from the trade area, click the item again and they will return to the item boxes.
Trade Area
The objects in these windows are the ones that will be traded. Make sure to pay close attention to items in the other person's trade window! Sometimes, they'll try to scam you by pulling out a rare item from their window at the last second.
Chat Area
Talking in trade is exactly like in other places except other players not involved in the trade will be unable to see your conversation. Keep in mind that the VMK dictionary still applies. The chat area is also where information such as the addition or removal of an item from the trading area is displayed.
The Trade Icon
While you are trading, a trade icon
will appear over your head and the head of the person you are trading with. This lets everyone around you know that you are busy trading and most likely will not be paying attention to things going on in game.
Turning Off Trade Request Option
You can turn off your trade request option if you don't want people sending you trade requests. To do so, push the Settings Button
. Then, go to the bottom of the window that popped up, and check the turn off trade request. To turn it back on, just click the check that's there, to turn back on.
See VMK: Editing preferences for more details.
Trade Window History
The trade window got a major update on 3 April 2007. The original trade window did not include a section to show item information about highlighted item like the new window does. The option to "Ask to be a friend" was removed from the original window at the time of the update. This option allowed traders to send Friend Requests to each other.
