Clothing

Should we change the setup of the way we do clothing?

In other parts of DOW, we try to get each picture of each type of clothing. Here, we are only doing certain ones, and saying they have a recolers section. I think even though it may be a big amount of images, we should have all the different images (even if they look similar) because they have different prices, and not just give a range of them (to try to be more precise : - )

Also, should we create a "template" for these, besides making tables, so it will be easier for us to put them in on the clothing store pages?

Also, how should we name the images, I'm not quite sure how we are naming them at the moment : - ).

Any ideas or thoughts? --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 16:24, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

Granted I was completely consistent, but the way I was doing it was [P|T|D]<#>
P-pugpratts,T-Truehound,D-Dolores (of course the first store I visited with the item won)
Gender - added only when I ran into a conflict with the opposite gender.
<#>-incrementing number for items with the same name.

The detailed image was the same format with the word Big at the beginning.

If you want to keep them more consistent, you can follow something like that.

Also, if we make each clothing item it's own page, we could possibly add the preview images (like we do for VMK with some items) with having 4 views of the preview (front, back, left right) : - ).

With the names, I like the format :). Should we not abbreviate the names in this case, because it's a name of an item, but abbreviate the town and person? --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 16:50, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

I used the image page itself and included the detailed images there. The image itself said 'Click to Preview' so I thought that worked rather nicely. Would be nice to add all the angles. Its just a mountain of work.
I wish I had used templates for each table row. Once I saw the same items in different stores, I wish I had done it that way. --Hile 16:56, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

Ah, I see them : - )! If we change the clothing over to templates, we can add the preview images there instead, and when we add the templates to the clothing pages, the preview images won't be there, unless they click the link to the template page : - ).

I'm thinking of going on soon, and start working on getting the images over again (to make sure) and preview images, to get all information as possible. This might be a lot of work, but I think in the end, it'd be worth it?

Also, the next problem if we made pages for them, is how we are going to name them (since coloring is not always easy to name on POTCO lol). Should we make them by number? Ex: Large vest (1) (don't use this link, it's just an example). Then, we could use the regular name Large vest to list of all Large vests (like we did with VMK)?

Any more thoughts? --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 17:09, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

Might be worth it. You could make it easier by just doing those items that have unique features on the side and back that the original picture didn't show. Frankly, a lot of the items aren't anything special from other angles.

Yeah I guess the numbering would work.--Hile 17:15, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

Yeah, that would make it easier : - ). I'll look at images and see if that will work : - ) Thanks Hile!

So, if it works out, if items have a pattern or design, do 4 rotations (front, back, and the two sides), if it is one color do 2 (front and back) or 1 (front) rotation(s)?

Also, with naming the images, so when I get the images, I'll upload them right, what exactly should it be? Should it be:

1.) Location:
T- Tortuga
P- Port Royal
C- Cuba
PD- Padres Del Fuego

2.) Store Name:
PT- Pugpratt's Tailoring
TTS- Truehound's Tailor Shop
CTS- Callecutter's Tailor Shop
DTS- Dolores Tailoring Shoppe
BTS- Blanca's Tailor Shop

3.) Gender:
Male- Male
Female- Female

4.) Item Name:

Ex: Large vest

So the outcome could be:

TPTMaleLargeVest.jpg

Which would mean: Tortuga Pugpratt's Tailoring Male Large Vest.

I do have one of the rare clothing items, I'll try to remember to get a pic. With that, should we just name it:

RareClothingMaleNAMEHERE.jpg

Any other ideas or comments? --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 17:28, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

Location seems unnecessary to me since the shop name implies that. - --Hile 16:04, 8 September 2008 (PDT)

I had it there, since I do not quite now all of the shop's locations yet, lol. We can remove it from the file name though :). On the forums, though, should we have the location for people who do not know? --Haveamagicalday (Talk | Contributions) 16:06, 8 September 2008 (PDT)
