Give Us a Room, You Get The Goods!

Our in-game Host select lucky players from VMK at random for a Room Makeover. The Host then remakes the room – for free – using items that are donated to the players and they get to keep!

We then post the results (including BEFORE and AFTER pics) along with tips you can use to make better rooms.

Mini Splash Mountain - the Ride!

Crates, crates and more crates! That's what you need when you're building a mountain – even a tiny one. SkySnowHill and I discovered this when we started building a miniature version of her favorite attraction, Splash Mountain!

We began our room makeover by clearing the room of all things non-Splash related, which was pretty much everything! She had been using this room to store items but wanted a room where she could invite over old friends and make new ones.

Sure storage rooms can be helpful but they're not very exciting...

After the room was cleared, we started building our ride! We placed River Start Shallow pieces, Disneyland Velvet-rope Room Dividers, and a Disneyland Retro Turnstile near the entrance to create a line queue. (We used a green turnstile to match the river ride pieces.) Then we added a little Red Barrel Chair atop a few crates so SkySnowHill could "operate" this virtual attraction.

As any good VMK'er knows, the key to ride building is laying out the design before you build up.

With the track planned out, we can start building our mountain.

We began stacking and stacking – Brown Coffee Table Crates that is, to create lifts and drops. And of course we couldn't forget the best part of the ride: the five-story hill drop! (Okay, so maybe it's not quite five stories.)

After all the ride pieces were in place, we added plenty of Swamp Trees for a real bayou feel. Typhoon Lagoon Palm Tops make nice little shrubs to fill in the bare space. We used Asteroid Chairs and Crater Couches as boulders to anchor the base of the mountain. Last but not least, we added an extra set of River Cave Teleporters so Guests can ride again and again without having to get back in line! If we could do that with the real Splash Mountain... ;-)

Now SkySnowHill has her very own Laughin' Place!
