IWearTheMoose's
Party in the Forest!

EventInfo-2008-5-8-IWearTheMoose-thumbnail.jpg

IWearTheMoose was nominated by a bunch of her friends for a Room Makeover! Her friends said she's funny and sweet and always willing to help out. She's a pretty big fan of my weekly makeovers and they said she'd love to have any kind of room as long as it was fun!

I headed into the Kingdom to check out some of her existing rooms to see what kind of themes she likes. I came across a room called "Working!!" and was curious to see just what she was working on. This Empty Dark Ride Guest Room was pretty much empty besides a few scattered Snow Carpets and since they're a bit out of season now, I decided this room would be great for what I had in mind!

BEFORE: Snow? It's almost summer time! It's a wonder these haven't melted yet!

I picked up the Snow Carpets and placed them in another empty room of hers. Since it's our VMK Celebration month, I thought a place to party would be great fun! I had a vision of a clearing near the base of a mountain in the middle of the forest. So I started to lay out my floor plan.

I used black Coffee Table Crates for the base of my mountain and then spent quite a while place PPR Small Islands 1 and 2. I left a blank curvy space on the floor to create a small stream. Then I used ALR BD Forest 1 and 2. This backdrop is great for this room because you can see a small body of water beyond the trees!

TIP: Always mark out your floor plan before decorating but don't be afraid to make small changes as you add the finishing touches!

I had to create my giant mountain base, so I used PPR Rocks Large and Small stacked atop my Coffee Table Crates. Once that was finished, I added PPR Logs in blue and purple to the riverbanks. I changed up the mouth of the river when I added PPR Mermaid Lagoon Waterfalls. I also removed 36 PPR Small Islands to make room for the dance floor, which I made out of nine PPR BR Floor pieces. Now I had to make room for party guests.

Purple Madame Leota Tables surrounded by blue and green Barrel Seats and lit by Haunted Mansion Candelabras and ALR Lighted Trees 1, 2, and 3 added just the right colors and shapes to the party. A few pops of color were added with ALR Glow and Purple Mushrooms.

I completed the river by adding PPR Water Carpets, a PPR Neverland Rainbow, and a few PPR Blue Plants. PPR Tic Toc wanted to come and hang out at the party, too, and with this river nicely dressed up, he was more than willing to chill for a while!

AFTER: I'm burning up the dance floor!

It's a month of celebration so come celebrate with IWearTheMoose! I'm off to find our final makeover candidate.

See ya real soon!

SunnySillyName was telling me about one of her favorite Disney animated movies – Finding Nemo. I asked if she had been on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage attraction at Disneyland. She said no, but couldn't wait to see it! Which gave me an idea... why not build a mini, virtual version of this attraction?

BEFORE: The waterfall and rocks on this Tiki Beach make the perfect backdrop for Nemo!

Item #1 on the Room Makeover To-Do List: Flood the room! First we covered the floor in Water Carpets. Then we placed our Nemo Submarine pieces where we wanted them, leaving just one Nemo Submarine Front all by itself. (You'll see how we use in a second...)

TIP: The right backdrop sets the tone for your whole room.

After we were happy with how we positioned our subs, we had to build our waterfall! We used Blizzard Beach Rocks and Waterslide Teleporters to re-create the famous Lagoon Waterfall seen at Disneyland. And see? The Nemo Submarine Front now looks like it's coming around through the waterfall!

Now a submarine voyage with nothing to look at is pretty boring, so we added lots of ALR Grasses small, medium, large and green and pink to create an ocean floor full of seaweed. We added PPR Rocks Large, Rocks Small, Green Plants, and Blue Plants for even more dimension. A sunken Nemo Submarine Buoy sits at the bottom of the ocean. Last but certainly not least, the infamous "Mine! Mine! Mine!" birds are represented by three Gull Post Lamps.

AFTER: Now we're under the Sea! Darling it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!

JustTravel likes to travel! In fact, it's one of his favorite things to do! It took just one look at his Disney Travel T-Shirt to get the inspiration for this makeover!

JustTravel's room was pretty empty, so I thought what would make this space really exciting? A city! I mean after all, who doesn't love to visit a big city?

BEFORE: A lonely Cactus Chair from Frontierland is about to meet a metropolis.

To build this city, I used PPR City Carpets, City River Carpets and City Flats to create a bustling miniature city. Once we laid out the river plan and situated the carpets, we sprinkled PPR Building Flats 1-5 all over the town and added a handful of PPR Tower Small Buildings. A PPR Big Ben, PPR City Tour Bridges, and some PPR Tiny Trees completed our scene.

Now for the best part, to take a bird's eye view of our handi-work! That's right, in this room JustTravel and I planned to take friends on a circle tour of our city! Of course there aren't any planes in VMK but what's the next best thing? Space shuttles! For this ride we planned on using Space Mountain Track.

DURING: The city is nearing completion!

The great thing about Space Mountain Track is that the colors of the poles blend into our background of this room quite nicely. We planned out our route, adding a few Uphills and Downhills along the way. Once we had tested the track to make sure all the pieces were facing the right direction, a few more PPR Tiny Trees and several PPR Night Clouds make it feel like we're really flying over the city!

AFTER: See, Peter Pan isn't the only one who can soar above the rooftops!

This is the final installment of VMK Room Makeover. I want to take this opportunity and thank all the players that let me make over their rooms! I really enjoyed making them over – and I hope you did too! Thanks to all the VMK Players that submitted a room (sorry if I didn't get a chance to pick yours) and thanks for playing Virtual Magic Kingdom!
