Halloween Quest in the Park!

You have just 2 weeks left to check out the brand new Disneyland Resort Halloween Quest. I'm not sure if you've seen Haunted Mansion Holiday, but it's pretty awesome to see how much different the mansion looks with it's holiday overlay - it's an entirely new attraction.

Something to Mule Over

Ok, so we are still getting questions about Mules... First, let me give you my definition of a Mule. A Mule is a character that is created to help collect credits or items and then abandoned. A character that is played with on a regular basis is not a Mule. If you have a character or two that you play with - don't worry we don't consider these Mules.

If you are a player that has many Mules you may see these characters deleted from the game, and once deleted you will not be able to get the character or any credits or items back. Going forward if we see players creating an unusual number of accounts we will ban the new accounts and any other accounts associated with that player. Remember: Accounts you regularly use and play with are not Mules!

What's Next for VMK?

What's next? I've asked Push to mix it up a bit so expect a revised Push Trash Trivia over the next few weeks. Also with the holidays just around the corner we have lots of very cool things planned - next week I'll tell you about an awesome event we'll be kicking off in November as well as giving you a preview of what's around the corner. Now to get Jake and Haley to stop making popping noises every time they speak!

Catch you in VMK,

Yavn

Tips, Tricks Hints and How To's

Winning Pirate Treasure Keys

TIP: For every 3 games you play (same level) of Pirates of the Caribbean Ship Battle or Capture The Flag, you will win a Bronze (1st Level), Silver (2nd Level), or Gold (3rd Level) Magic Key Pin.

When you receive a pin, head on over to the Treasure Room. The Treasure Room can be found by walking to the left of your screen when you are in the Pirates of the Caribbean Game Lobby. Once in the Treasure Room, you'll find three Treasure Chests. Match your key with a chest to open it. You'll then be awarded a random prize such as Pirate Maze Walls, Magic, or even Credits! You may not even find a prize but there's always a chance you'll stumble across some buried treasure!

Dear Yeti

You've Got Questions, Yeti Has Answers

When Disneyland first opened, none of the rides were roller coaster-type thrills - what was the first fast ride at a Disney park?

- Pogoagogo

Dear Pogoagogo,

Inspired by the movie Third Man on the Mountain, the Matterhorn was part of a huge development project to enhance Fantasyland. Built by Arrow Dynamics, the Matterhorn Bobsleds was not only the first fast ride at any Disney Park (the attraction debuted in 1959, just four years after Disneyland opened), it also has another distinction - it's the world's first tubular steel roller coaster! Steel roller coasters existed before the Matterhorn but the cars rode on flat steel tracks, instead of tubular track. Today, almost all steel coasters ride on tube steel tracks - all decedents of the Matterhorn!

Dear Yeti,

I read somewhere that Disney animated films use Rotoscope techniques? What is Rotoscoping?

MissElizabethT

Dear MissElizabethT,

Besides a fancy technical term, rotoscoping is a technique used by animators to capture the lifelike and fluid movements of actors or animals. Basically it works like this: Animators capture live-action on film, then print the frames of action and use the images as a guide for animation. Original rotoscopes used by major Hollywood studios were actually projected onto glass and then traced by a studio animator. Disney animators actually preferred to use the action just as a guide for the animation, filling in the detail and animation by hand.

Do you have a question for the Yeti?

Send it to me through the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you (the email and information you registered with) and select "Dear Yeti" from the drop down menu. Each week I'll answer a question or two here in the Newsletter.

Push's Trash Trivia

NewsletterPushtrivia.jpg

Which real-life racing king voices The King in Disney-Pixar's Cars?

Know the answer?

Send your answer using Contact Us at the bottom of this or the main VMK webpage. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you and select Push's Trash Trivia from the drop down menu.

Out of all the correct answers, three players will be drawn as winners and sent a cool prize. Out of all the correct answers, three players will be drawn as winners and sent a cool prize. But hurry, only entries submitted by the close of game on Friday, October 20th will be accepted.

Here's the answer to last week's Push Trivia question:

Q: Who voices Ichabod Crane in the Disney classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow?

A: This was a bit of a trick question - as no one voices Ichabod! Released to theaters in 1949, the Disney classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is the tale of accident prone Ichabod Crane, a quiet schoolteacher who comes to the small New England town of Sleepy Hollow to start a new life. As Ichabod makes his way around town he captures the attention of the ladies, the town bully Brom Bones and the infamous headless horseman... The story is narrated by famous crooner Bing Crosby.

Did you know: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was released as a double feature, with The Wind and the Willows both are available now on Disney DVD. The Wind and the Willows is also the basis of the Disneyland attraction Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

Congratulations to the 3 lucky (and randomly picked) players that sent in the correct answer:
TikiKrissy
TrappedExplorers
Lostmind

They all answered correctly to this question. Thanks for your entries, your prize is on its way!
