If you're unfortunate enough to be defeated in battle, you'll wind up inside the nearest jail. If you were with a crew at sea before your ship was sunk, your entire crew may wind up there with you. The jails are notoriously lax on security. Just walk up to the cell door and kick it open. You'll be free just like that! Unfortunately your pirate will be groggy for while and will have less hitpoints and voodoo points. Activity will make the grogginess wear off faster!

Jails are located on all of the major islands except Kingshead.
