Think Up!

Want to create a successful guest room? Well you need to THINK of an idea first right? Stumped on ideas? Here are some tips on getting ideas for guest rooms:

  • Look around your room!
  • Look at some of your favorite things, such as electronics, board games, pictures and movies.
  • Look at magazines and books. You're sure to spark some interesting ideas in those!
  • Look on some of your favorite websites and online games.
  • Think, "What has not been done before?"
  • Keep A Notebook!
    • Keep a notebook or a piece of paper where you can write down thoughts you have had before but couldn't do at that time, like special holidays, or you just don't want to forget that idea. (Don't you hate that?)

Rough Draft!

Now you got your idea. Great! Now, lets plan your room. Say you are making a Christmas room you:

  • Take out a piece of printer paper.
    • Draw out what you think it will look like. You don't have to be an artist. Just use symbols for items. Like a box for a crate.
    • Start trying to think of a title. Write some ideas down, and decide later while making the room.

Getting Materials! Just think, you are almost ready to create your guest room! You're SO excised you go onto VMK and go into a guest room. HOLD YOUR HORSES! Aren't you forgetting something? FURNITURE!

  • Think of your theme.
    • What does with it? Browse the shops, and look for items that would fit.
  • Ask!
    • Ask friends for ideas. Friends ALWAYS are a great source!
  • Check!
    • Look at your items you have now. Does anything you have now fit?
    • Look at your credits! You need money before you can do ANYTHING!

Start Creating!

FINALLY! Time to create your masterpiece! You go into the guest room you picked, and follow these tips!

  • Don't make it too junky. Make one big scene and add little details.
  • Make your room so only you can enter it. Don't want anyone stealing your idea right?
  • Stick to the theme! If the theme is Christmas, don't put in a pumpkin!
  • Make it look like you took time to do it. If it looks sloppy, you won't get anywhere!
  • Have fun creating it!

People Friendly!

Here are some tips to keep the people happy and entertained. Also, to keep them to stay! People are the most important thing about your room being successful, isn't it? Last time I checked it was!

  • Have pathways cleared. Don't have so much in your room that it is difficult to walk.
  • Have chairs all around the room. People can get out of the way, stay, and relax.
  • Have a turnstile to keep unwanted people out!
  • Be noticed, so people don't keep coming in saying "Who owner?"
○Have a chair high up so people can see you. ○Greet everyone when they come in, Example: Hello Tmkttt! Welcome, Thanks for coming! Have a great time!
  • Disconnecting, crashing, and away from keys problems.
○Have a friend or two in the room, so if you disconnect, crash, or go away from keys, they can host until you get back. Try to have friends in real life do it so you can contact them if you need them to close the place down and get the people out. ○Have a teleporter near where you sit so when you DO get disconnected or crashed, you can go in the teleporter without waiting to get in line in back of the turnstile.

So, you got your room done, and want people to come right? Well advertise!

  • Put a thread on the VMK fansite! Make sure to have a nice title and post a picture of your room in the thread. Let people know when it is open or closed and maybe make a little story or poem to go with it!
  • Invite your friends and tell them to invite their friends as well.
  • Ask some of your fellow friends on the forums by Private Messaging them
